Are you a fan of the NGW List, the GroupWise support forums?

Check out "the GroupWise Exchange", a brand new GroupWise-answers-community-site, set up just last week!

(I saw a hit of it on Twitter)

This is a short email'd interview I had with Chris Abbey, one of its founders:

GWCheck: Can you introduce the people behind "the GroupWise Exchange"?
Chris: I'm Chris Abbey one of the TGX moderators and one of the "Old Guard" for want of a better description.

For better or for worse I've been tussling with NetWare since 1985c and GroupWise since the turn of the century, so I do have some first hand knowledge of the difficulties experienced with the installation and support of Novell products.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean I have all the answers

GWCheck: What is "the GroupWise Exchange"?
Chris: You will of course be well aware of the phenomenal success of the "micro-community" sites like StackOverflow.com and Superuser.com using the StackExchange software, which has encouraged us to announce a GroupWise version called "The GroupWise Exchange".

GWCheck: How is "the GroupWise Exchange" interactive?
Chris: The new site allows users to ask and answer questions, and through membership and active participation, to vote questions and answers up or down and edit questions and answers in a wiki fashion.

Users of TGX can also earn reputation points and "badges"; for example, a person is awarded 10 reputation points for receiving an "up" vote on an answer given to a question, and can receive badges for their valued contributions. RSS feeds are available for the latest questions and answers on particular topics or tags.

GWCheck: What is your goal with "the GroupWise Exchange"?
Chris: We are hoping that with wide community support "The GroupWise Exchange" can become every bit as vibrant and useful a resource as sites like StackOverflow and Superuser, providing a comprehensive, community based and free support infrastructure for the GroupWise community at large.

GWCheck: Where can we find "the GroupWise Exchange"?
Chris: As you have already discovered the site is located at www.groupwise.co.uk where we hope users will sign up and start participating.

Both www.GroupWiseExchange.com and www.NetWareSupport.co.uk also point to specific areas of this site.

Tnx Chris!
