Can't expand our NSS volumes

I've done some searching on the interwebs and coming up with nothing. here's the story...

On a few of our servers (yes its happening on more then one) when you go into iManager and select pools, normally when it loads your first pool is highlighted and you can make changes or click a different pool - right? well what I see is that all 5 of our pools are highlighted and you can't click on any pool or change anything. If you click on devices, you see "sda" which for us is our boot stuff, then you see "sdb" - if you click on sdb it wants you to "initialize the disk now this is where the current running NSS pools are so - NO I'm not clicking that.

Has anyone ever seen this? Its on OES2 sp2

If you use NSSMU - when you go under pools and hit F3 to expand - it just exits to the main NSSMU screen.... I'm out of ideas

Honestly one of the first things will be to update... OES2 SP2 is
*very* old. You'll want to get to SP3 current maintenance updates.

Also just as an FYI, OES2 goes out of general support at the end of
this month so a more long term plan would be to go to OES11 though I
don't think that's needed just to solve your current issue.

  • Oh trust me - I would freaking love to do that.... but my company policy won't let me....

The crazy part is on some server's (we have about 150) it lets me expand with no problems - and there is about 20 of them I get this error - all the same version, maybe installed by different tech's but from what I can tell all the same way.

    What policy is that?

  • I have a wild guess. Try this. Repeat the operation using NSSMU from the server console. Do not use SSH / PuTTY .... and see if you can expand the pool.
