Backup Exec 2010R3, NSS and OES Sles 11 sp2.

Hi there

I've just installed Symantec's sp3 and find that Backup Exec can now see the server, but it cannot see the NSS volumes. I've tried a test backup and find that I can backup files on the server (it is a VM machine), but not the data on our mounted NSS volumes. I've run 'smsconfig -t --list' and the sles server reports that tsafs and tsands were loaded.
Am I doing something wrong, have I only done half a job of the upgrade?

PS FYI I'm a newbie to Linux.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

    I don't believe Backup Exec 2010 R3 supports OES11 SP1 (which if you
    have OES on SLES11 SP2 should be that version).

    OK. I'll start with the stupid question. In Netware you would enter 'Version' to find out exactly what system you were running, is there a similar command in Linux so that I can confidently confirm what we're using here (I didn't build this server, that's why I'm slightly hesitant about the correct version I've got, which seems to be very important to this scenario!).

    I had tried to backup this server a couple of months ago and Backup Exec couldn't (wouldn't) even see the server, so there was no hope of backing it up. When I phoned Symantec I was told that OES Sles 11 wasn't supported - end of! But maybe it would work in SP3, whenever it was released!
    The good news was last week I got an email from Symantec saying that SP3 was out. So, earlier this week I installed it and Backup Exec can now not only see the server but it can back up the root folders as well. A great improvement. However, it cannot see the NSS volumes. These being the ones containing the important user data!
    I was wondering if the was something that I had to do to make these volumes visible to Backup Exec. I had assumed that most backup programs used a similar process and that there was an obvious step, that would have to be done for any backup system, that I had forgotten?
    I have checked if the TSA's were running, which they are - tsafs

    On Linux there isn't a command but some release files you can check via
    "cat /etc/*release".

    The "SP3" that I was refering to was Backup Exec 2010R3 SP3.

    You are probably right here.
    I know that Backup Exec 2010R3 SP3 has only just been released, but after reading this forum I thought that there would have been a queue of people eager to get it installed to see if it solved their numerous issues. That doesn't seem to have been the case.
    I had been hoping that someone who understood SLES would be able to explain the process rather than having to go to Symantec and asking someone who has absolutely no interest in things Novell.
    Ah well, I guess that I'll just have to bit the bullet and open a ticket with Symantec.
    If I get a solution I'll let you know.

    Ah a combination I hadn't thought of, no wonder we're all confused!

    So a quick search for "Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP3" and novell takes me back
    to the be_2010_scl.pdf document which I now see does cover SP3 (page 3).

    I think that's your best move although based on the above PDF I don't
    think OES11 SPx is supported. Of course if it is then Symantec need to
    update their document(s).
