NSS pool/volume compatability with OES11 and Netware 6.5

What happens to an NSS pool/volume in OES11SP2 that prevents its use in NetWare 6.5SP8?

In my case, this doesn't relate to clustering, but NCS supports pool sharing for a combination of of OES 11SP2 and Netware6.5SP8 hosts, although it's listed as only being supported when transitioning from NetWare to OES.

What is lost if I were to take a pool that is currently attached to an OES 11SP2 host and attach it to a NetWare 6.5SP8 host?

I'd say your metadata is at risk (trustee rights, etc). As OES handles this differently there is a conversion when mounting a NetWare volume under an OES server (on first mount only the xml files get created that are used by OES). Metadata does still get written to the NSS volume when running on OES, but switching forth and back will probably quickly have you end up in an inconsistent metadata state (which could be fixed manually, but not something you'd want to be doing by routine).

    Cheers,
    Willem
