Possible for an AG cluster to have servers deployed as Appliance and Service?

We have NAM 5.0.4 AG deployed as a cluster of three appliances. We would like to move to deploying them as a service. Is it possible to migrate them one-by-one in the existing cluster in which case there would be a mix of appliance/service deployments or do we need to create a new cluster for the service deployments?
