How to generate a csr from SSPR version 3.3

We are using SSPR version 3.3 and we want to have this appliance use a separate SSL certificate than what it currently is using.   

I have found the following article explaining how to replace an expired certificate: https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7014508
 
There are several options on how to accomplish this; but I am not certain which is the best option. I like both options Option1 and Option2 together to provide the best outcome.  We are using tomcat with the existing SSPR setup.
 
Can we create a new .csr from the Windows server that has tomcat installed and is configured to work with SSPR version 3.3?  Or am I way off base?
