Upgrade SSPR 4.3 to 4.4 password expiration remote database

I am running SSPR 4.3 with a remote database(Postgres) configured for password expiration notification since Prior release of Self Service Password Reset only supported an external database. However, with the latest release of SSPR 4.4 and above , need to upgrade to the latest version.

I am looking to move ahead without using the remote database and use the ldap directory option instead. Suggest the best way to move forward. All helpful ideas shall be highly appreciated.
