Summary
Some Logger customers may come across this permission issue when setting configuration backup to CIFS shared folders. Kindly Note: This is a suggestion and that all permission should be sought from the system administrator before making changes. System administration is beyond the scope of the ArcSight document. Ensure that there is a backup taken before making any changes and revert if the changes cause any other ill effect.

Arcsight Logger (Found on 7.x but may affect other versions)
CIFS Network folder (eg: Windows shared folder)

Situation
Configuration backup on the Logger webUI to CIFS mount may result in a "Permission Denied" error in the logger_server.log.

Cause
This seems to be an issue due to conflict of a Linux non-root user (arcsight) writing via SMB. Logger uses non-root user to transfer the generated configuration backup file into the shared folder.
