I’m proud to announce that Fortify has been recognized for its industry-leading AppSec capabilities once again! As you know, Fortify is part of the OpenText suite of cybersecurity solutions, and OpenText was recently named a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing (AST).
This marks the 10th year in a row we have been named a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for AppSec testing—every year since the inception of this report. While we’re pleased at our now decade-long run, we’re not stopping here. Security has been and will be one of the key focus areas of OpenText going forward, and Fortify’s focus on innovation and leadership in the application security space will continue.
At this time, we want to thank our customers, partners, and pundits. Your insight and feedback continue to drive us to create new features that help secure the software supply chain and deliver code security to businesses around the world. We recognize the importance of being recognized as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant, and we don’t take this honor for granted.
Fortify has introduced a variety of changes over the past year to target the Critical Capabilities outlined by Gartner. The acquisition of Debricked provides a number of software supply chain capabilities, including Open Source Select. That product provides insights into data that can be leveraged to assess open-source software risks (frequency of updates, size of maintenance team, etc.), and helps guide teams to packages with the least potential for downstream risks.
Fortify Insight is an addition to our portfolio which addresses application security posture management, incorporating data from both Fortify’s own tooling as well as third-party solutions. We also expanded API security testing and discovery capabilities, adding support for GraphQL and gRPC APIs, along with support for traditional formats such as REST.
These product enhancements and improvements have led OpenText to a much stronger product portfolio than in past years, enabling the company to score near the top in each formal use case considered.
Dale Gardner, Gartner Senior Director and Analyst stated, “The major driver in the evolution of the AST market is the need to support enterprise DevOps and cloud-native application initiatives. Customers require offerings that provide high assurance, high-value findings, while not unnecessarily slowing down development efforts. Clients expect offerings to fit earlier into the development process, with testing often driven by developers rather than security specialists.” At Fortify, we are striving to fulfill this vision and we will continue to do so in the future. Here’s to another great year!
