It's less than a week away from one of the best Application Security conferences of the year, Global AppSec by the OWASP Foundation, which will take place at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco on November 14-18. With five days of activities taking place this year, it’s easy to get overwhelmed on where to spend your time. To make things easier for you, here is a list of four activities you need to have as part of your schedule to be sure you get the most out of your conference.

#1 – Network

If there are networking events, join them. If there are groups of people sitting around talking, join them. Connect with people. These are your peers. People in the same industry as you, facing the same problems as you. I have never met a single person at a conference that wasn’t happy to exchange information with me and there are quite a few people in which I regularly keep up. Plus, it’s always fun showing up at a conference knowing who might be there and making plans with them. Great things come from networking. #2 – Visit the Expo Hall

Many people feel like expo halls are just for companies trying to sell you stuff. While this can be true in some cases, it’s also an amazing time to speak to some of the experts behind the leading software you either use or are looking to use. Ask questions, ask for demos, share your problems. These are fantastic opportunities for you to have the full attention of some really smart people. #3 – Join the “Web Application Security Essentials” Training

This year's lineup promises to be both informative and entertaining. 

From Netflix security risks and OWASP cheat sheets, to Dr. Miller’s stories hacking iPhone, Android and Fiat Chrysler vehicles (which resulted in a recall of 1.4million vehicles) there’s something for everyone in this year's keynotes at Global AppSec – San Francisco.
