When attempting to run ScanCentral Sensors and Clients after installing/changing an SSL certificate in the ScanCentral controller the operation will fail with the following error: error PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Situation
When attempting to run ScanCentral sensors and clients after installing/changing an SSL certificate in the ScanCentral controller the operation will fail with the following error:
error PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target


Cause
The certificate used to secure the ScanCentral Controller is self-signed or signed by an internal or unrecognized third-party Certification Authority and it has not been imported to the cacerts keystore of the ScanCentral Controller/Client's internal Java runtime.
