Re: IDM project deployment via command line

I know this thread is old, but I am very interested in automating both
the exporting and importing drivers from and to my eDirectory trees. We
have multiple clients that are looking at automating the deploy of
drivers and we'd like to have a story to tell them, did anything come
from this research? Should I post this on a new thread?

Definitely a new thread and explain your specific requirements
From what I recall, this is still very much undocumented and could change.

I would also like to find out more regarding automated (headless) deployment.

A customer of mine has resorted to LDAP and scripting to automatically
deploy drivers in a staged environment - probably as unsupported as
    this stuff is.

    Hi Mark,
Definitely it is not supported (yet?), but I also think about this
scenario and it "almost" working solution.
    Typical scenario:
    1. LDAP export from QA tree
    2. "Update" in this LDIF file some "specific" parameters
    (IP/port/service account name)
    3. LDAP import to another tree

All these steps can be scripted :)

Go watch the session Aditya did on Designer headless if you want to see
more info on this approach. Probably the most definitive info on the
subject that exists. I have some extra scripts to make it easier from
    Volker before he left NetIQ.

  • Hi Geoff,

I've, also i guess, been experimenting with automated deployments. Our
product is a standardized but heavily configurable IDM solution using
packages, it would really help if we can upgrade customers fully
automated using puppet or such. Could you point me to this video? It
    sounds interesting at least.

    Regards,

    Albert-Jan Stevens

You need to contact Geoffrey via mail (his mail address can be deduced
    by looking at his posts.

He will add you to the correct group so you can access the shared
location where these sessions are archived.

  • Ok cool thanks I will to that.
