In the last 30 days, we've released updated versions of File Reporter and Storage Manager. Even though these are just maintenance releases, both updates provide some feature updates and bug fixes that you'll want to leverage right away.

File Reporter 2.6.1

Support for Clustered EMC Isilon Devices using SmartConnect Mode
Support for EMC Isilon NAS devices configured as a cluster with SmartConnect mode enabled is now included. Prior to this update, Isilon devices were only discoverable and available for processing when set up as standalone NAS devices without SmartConnect mode enabled.

Performance Enhancements
Minor improvements for proper error reporting were made for the Custom Query web editor and the Report Branding dialog. Minor logging updates were added to the Agent for identification of failed target paths on scan failure.

Bug Fixes
A substantial amount of bugs were fixed. All are specified in the Novell File Reporter 2.6.1 Release Notes on the product ISO or the Novell File Reporter Documentation website.

Storage Manager 4.1 for Active Directory

Global Statistics Report (GSR) Collector Improvements
The GSR Collector has been redesigned to improve performance and reduce memory consumption. It has been extended to collect data and report on additional managed path types. Additionally, a new scoping configuration has been added to tailor the GSR Collector to the needs of your environment.

The GSR Collector now lets you set specific configuration settings for the Windows network file system and for Active Directory.

NSMAdmin Direct Database Access
NSMAdmin now has direct access to the SQL Server database instance for improved performance with the following:

• Pending Events

• GSR Collector Anomaly Reports

• Redistribution

Bug Fixes
Bugs that previously affected the NSM Engine, Event Monitor, Cross-Empire Data Migration, the Database Configuration wizard, and the administrative interface have been fixed. For detailed information, refer to the Novell Storage Manager 4.1 for Active Directory Release Notes.
