user account issue....`

Short story, network admin went to create a user account in iManager for a teacher to then find out that the username already existed and they did receive a warning that the username already exists.  This is true because it was a teacher that left and then came back about a year later.  They went in and just reset the password for the account so the teacher could login.

Now no matter what PC this teacher logs in on after a period of time the Windows 10 background goes black, icons in the taskbar disappear and it renders the PC pretty much useless.  I have created other accounts in iManager since this attempted creation and they all work fine, no issues, there is something with this one user account.  This is not a PC issue as this account has not existed previously on any PC (reimage every year), and the same thing happens on every PC you try.  I have tried to delete and recreate this account with the same username and the same thing happens when I log in to a  PC.  Additionally, if I restart and login again, the PC goes through the "getting everything ready" Win10 process again and then in C:\Users another profile is created but this time shows username.computername

Not sure if this is something I can track down in iManager or if this is something in ZCM?  Not sure where to look first for this one.

Our environment is simple (2) SLES servers, and one ZCM 2017 SP3 server.

Thanks for any ideas......

This is for sure NOT related to eDirectory. I'd assume you use DLU with ZCM to create local accounts on the WS. Do you also use roaming profiles along with DLU?

Yes, using DLU with ZCM to create local accounts.  No we do not use roaming profiles.  This DLU is not kicking out any errors in ZCM, and is working for all other users that are associated with it.

If you check the user in ZCC for assigned bundles and policies (on the "Assignments" tab, don't forget to switch from "direct" to "all"), what does get shown? Do you see anything "unusual" compared with what's shown for users without the problems?

Everything looks the same as a working user.  I have even tried moving this user to another container that uses a different DLU, same issue.

Do you have a chance to test this with an instance which is NOT installed with an image? A manual ISO installation in a VM would be perfect.

tried manually creating an image too, that did not help.  This is nothing to do with the image, this happens across different types of PC's that use different images.  I checked the event viewer and saw some event ID's that referred to roaming profile connection issues, but that was about it, and they were all Microsoft related.  Again though we are not doing roaming profiles. Created a new teacher account today for another new staff member, works just fine, no issues.  Are usernames/accounts stored in the ZCM database? if so would there be a way to clear it out?  In the end I have the teacher working using a different username and it is fine, would just like to figure out the WHY here.

AFAIK, references in the ZCM DB are tied to the object's LDAP GUID. Facing the fact that you've deleted and recreated the user (which results in a new GUID) i'd suspect the issue to be related to the "plain" name which could happen if roaming profiles are in use.

On an affected PC please rightclick "this pc" -> properties -> advanced settings -> profiles

and post a screenshot along with the events you're facing in the event viewer.
