hosts.nds - partition name with space

I have a tree that is mostly Windows but there is one Linux box in the replica. On this box I use hosts.nds to allow the box to talk to the other windows servers which use SLP.

The hosts.nds file works fine for three of the partitions, but one of them was cruely named with a space in it.

Can a hosts.nds file entry contain a partition name which has a space in it?

I have tried

partition name.TREE_NAME.   <IP>

and

"partition name".TREE_NAME.  <IP>

but they don't seem to work. Before I try any more I just wondered if there was knowledge about the syntax required?

Note that the lack of hosts.dns entry for this partition only causes some transient errors for this partition upon service restart, these settle down after a while and the replica is fine. This was mostly to see if there was a correct way of specifiying this partition in hosts.nds for completeness.
