"-785 fffffcef err dib error" on adding new edir root replica at 40208 into existing edir tree at 20812.

ndsrepairs run on all existing oes2k15sp1sles11.4 servers in the tree as -R -l yes -u yes -m yes -f yes.

new server installed at oes2k18sp3sles12sp5. edirectory imanager and directory installed as pattern on new server.

all checked for networking, firewall, SLP, DNS, NTP.

add root replica - stalls with subject error which includes: "the database subsystem has encountered an error not mapped to an existing eDirectory error" which looks pretty grim.

cant find any info anywhere.

waited a couple of hours for support - but with replication broken i dumped the offending server out of the tree which restarted replication.

To my mind just trying it again without any remedial action will result in the same.

Any ideas?

I roughly remember to have seen something like this many years ago. In this case (the 785 error is a pretty unspecific one which often points to issues at the FLAIM or even HW level) it happened on a VM with thin-provisioned disks on a totally overloaded SAN. The "solution" was to preallocate blocks before the installation.
