Hi Joel, according to the documentation driver supports all PeopleTools v8.5x family. 

>You can use the PeopleSoft driver 5.2 with PeopleTools application v8.5x or above.

I used PS driver in the past and according to the driver architecture, I don't see any reason to break driver functionality, but definitely better to confirm direction with NetIQ support.

I’m skeptical that it actually supports 8.59 as that is the version of people tools that switches to Java  11 and I’m not clear on the support for java 8 for integrations. I’ll have to contact support and see I guess

Certifying People Soft Driver with PT 8.59 is on the roadmap and the work has already started for it. We should soon be able to certify that. Currently, we don't see any dependency on the Java version and it should continue to work fine with Java 8.

That is fantastic news thanks for the update.

I don't think that support of the Java 8 play any role here: for a long time IDM use Azula JVM instead Oracle JVM.

psoftshim.jar is "cross-platform" and supposed to work under any JVM.

People Soft driver is now validated against PT 8.59 and corresponding documentation is also updated.
