  • PAM Sniffer can be used to identify privileged accounts, particularly those that were created and left unattended for a long time, which can be most at risk, as they have not been tracked. So it becomes necessary to discover these privileged accounts and analyze their need or minimize them. This is an independent tool used to help perform a risk assessment in identifying these privileged accounts.

Regarding "Reporting", PAM Sniffer Reports can be generated from within the tool to view these privileged accounts and their details. These details aid in the goal mentioned above. PAM Sniffer doesn't monitor sessions, provide keystroke data, or offer privileged escalation of accounts, as this is the purpose of Privileged Account Manager (PAM). PAM Sniffer helps do the initial assessment, analysis and planning of how to handle these discovered privileged accounts within an organization.

I suspect there is some error presented in the UI when attempting to run the discovery tool. This is most likely due to a configuration issue of your environment in the tool such as the credentials, IP / DNS address or resolution of the configured server (i.e. LDAP), protocol configuration issue (i.e. ssl), etc. What error do you see here? I recommend Opening a Service Request to dig into possible causes of a failed report in PAM Sniffer.
