Data Security Product Management is pleased to announce the release of

Voltage SecureData for Hadoop Developer Templates 4.2

This release adds support for binary encryption in Hive using Identity-Based Symmetric Encryption (IBSE), which is based on AES. It includes new UDFs suitable for protecting fields containing binary data (such as images, audio/video clips, etc.) and unformatted/unstructured string data (such as free-form comments, SMS messages, etc.).

Highlights of this new version include:

Binary encryption in Hive

  • Two regular and two generic Hive UDFs to use AES/IBSE to encrypt and decrypt binary fields as well as unformatted/unstructured string fields

Bugfixes

  • Error handling for the Hive Session State API
  • Capture of current user when launching MapReduce job via Generic UDF

 

Installation and Upgrade

This release is available in the Voltage SecureData download center and on the Micro Focus customer download portal.
