CyberRes is pleased to announce the release of Voltage SecureData Integrations for AWS 2.0. This release adds Redshift, Amazon’s fully managed, scalable cloud data warehouse, to our existing Amazon Web Services integrations that enable the use of Voltage data protection.

Features and Benefits

Our new integration with Amazon Redshift allows our customers to:

  • persistently protect and unprotect data when or anytime after it lands in Amazon Redshift.
  • conduct secure analytics in Amazon Redshift with access to result sets enabled directly on specific data elements via SQL function calls or transparently in combination with Redshift views.
  • securely and safely share data both inside and outside of AWS for extended first-party, second-party, and third-party analytics.

This release of Voltage SecureData Integrations for AWS adds Amazon Redshift to the list of cloud-based and on-premises environments that Voltage already supports, including Vertica, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Teradata, and Hadoop (including Amazon EMR), for true hybrid and multi-cloud data science and high-scale secure analytics.

Product Overview

The integration of Voltage SecureData with Amazon Redshift creates a set of Redshift External Functions and links them to the customer’s SecureData server infrastructure via the use of intermediary AWS cloud services. These include AWS Lambda at which a corresponding set of serverless SecureData cloud functions that permit data protection and access are defined.

Calls to Redshift External Functions are relayed directly to AWS Lambda which communicates with our Key Server and Web Services Server as required. Amazon IAM controls identity and access management of the required infrastructure, and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and AWS Secrets Manager are used to store configuration files and authentication secrets.

Voltage SecureData Integrations for AWS 2.0 includes the following components:

  • AWS CLI build scripts that automate the installation and configuration of the Redshift integration and its supporting cloud services.
  • Manual installation and configuration guides that explain in detail how the Redshift integration is built and set-up across AWS, and how it can be extended to include additional options.
  • Integration templates for extending Voltage data-centric protection into Amazon S3, Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose, and Amazon Macie.
  • Support for all data protection types available in SecureData, including FPE, eFPE, FPH, and SST, for pseudonymization or anonymization of PII, PHI, and PCI data.
  • Access to all of SecureData’s built-in formats, including AUTO, the Japanese formats, and language support via 'Safe Unicode FPE'.
