Good news about Nutanix and IBM cloud.

Regarding Apache CloudStack, I think Provisioning and Orchestration would be a good point of departure:

Apache CloudStack content:

■Allows end users to create, store and manage revision control of templates.
■ Provides templates that support the inclusion of at least compute instances, block storage volumes, network and security configurations.
■ Provides templates that allow the specification of dynamic parameters that will be set at provisioning time.
A template is not just the combination of compute instance size with a particular image. It is a build manifest that can be used to provision multiple elements at once. The management of provisioning templates is part of the practice commonly referred to as infrastructure as code (IaC). IaC helps ensure system integrity into runtime repeatedly, and it supports the implementation of DevOps capabilities.

■ Based on these templates, have the full service life cycle capabilities to provision, modify and un-deploy the template based resources.

In the next release of CSA 4.99, the solution will be offered. As part of the tenant organization's operations, the admin can set "Pause on Errors as part of Modification Error Handling". This will make the subscription pause so the operator can decide to resume after fixing the issue from the same step or skip that step to continue further or completely cancel the modification which will take the subscription back to the original state.

The upgrade operation by default sends the notification and if this should be stopped, please disable the email configuration for that window as a workaround. We will get inputs from others to take it as a requirement to provide the option to skip notification during the subscription upgrade.

The VM will be deployed through HCM OO and through SCVMM 2016.
After the VM deployed, the System administrator will receive notification saying that subscription has been completed. But there are some details in notification that are missing such as "Subscription Details" Application Name" "Application Description".

You can not just modify a property.
You need to go to the Order Portal (MPP) and do make a modification request to the Subscription
Condition 1 and 2 must be true not either or.

Actually I'm in condition 2 . I'm making a change in an input property directly binded to the component property ( The modification is triggered at this specific component layer )

In another hand this property is binded to another property within a different component ( not a children one). I just want to know why modification actions are not triggered on that component ?

CSA does not trigger modifications just based on Property Updates via API.
Modifications to my knowledge are only triggered when following conditions are true

1. There is a Modification Request from MPP for the respective subscription
2. The modification did changed any input property that is directly or indirectly bound to a component property
Under those conditions modifications on the component and all bound Resource offerings will be triggered.
If 2nd condition is not given it will also not trigger modify flows.
Maybe this changed in the newer versions ... but this is what I know

How to Create a User in CSA and MPP

Hi,

I want to create a user in CSA Management Console and Marketplace portal. I don't have LDAP access and hence I'm going for a local user.

I followed following steps for user addition in CSA:

1. Logged in to CSA application server.

2. Encrypted password along with role with following command:

java -jar passwordUtil-standalone.jar encrypt <password>,CSA_ADMIN,enabled

Output of this command gave me an encrypted password.

3. Edited provider-users.properties file under path HPE\CSA\jboss-as\standalone\deployments\idm-service.war\WEB-INF\classes

Added a new user with following string:

myuser=ENC(<encrypted password given by above command>)

4. Save and tried login to CSA Management Console with user myuser.

I'm able to login to Management Console but getting attached error every-time I click any option under my left panel.

Am I missing anything here? Please help.

Also, please guide me on the MPP user creation as well.

Erase/cancel "Modification failed" on a subscription

Product version : CSA 4.94
DB : MS SQL Server 2014

We launch a lot of modifications on our subscriptions and a lot of them failed (normal 🙂 ).
We would like to cancel this last modifications automatically and we don't want to relaunch it or correct it.
We would like to launch another modification without correct last one and without error message.

=> We would like to cancel the last modification, as you can see on screenshot.

According to our customers, it is quite major necessity as well. Instead of giving vcenter user in to server owners to manage their environment, they are willing to make them use HCM Portal. Moreover it leads to popularize HCM choice.

Apply different expiration period in offering level

We would like the ability to apply different expiration period on different offerings, regardless of the organization consuming the offerings.

Consider the following Scenario - we intent to offer 2 services.

The first one is for Test server. This service should have expiration period of a month due to the nature of the developer work.

The second is for a Build server. This is a production server that must stay online for a year (or even more).

The full scenario is as following: "Need to use the read-only role with AD groups binding in CSA. This role must have read access to the Administration section of the CSA management console (like the CSA Administrator role) and not have permission to change the configuration."

Assignment of different roles for a user with several catalogs

End customer is requesting to have service catalogs assigned to a user (or user group) and needs to have a different role for every catalog.

Ex: "administrator" role for services in catalog A and only "operator" role for services in catalog B.

The goal is provide subcription creation permissions for some type of subscriptions and "view only" permissions for other types of subscription (created by other users)

replace "isGroupOwned:!1" with "isGroupOwned:1" in file: $CSA_HOME/portal/node_modules/mpp-ui/dist/scripts/95c4ac31.modules.js (maybe different name in your deployment)

At least i can request Public Actions which are defined in ressource-offering lifecycle.

Hmmm.. we ask for that feature since 3 years. In a talk with R&D we mentioned to bring hideZeroValues to the mgmt console as a setting.

R&D told us that variablenames sometimes not mean what thes sounds like...

Anyway.. i wolud really appreciate this feature.
Some providers like to show"-off" that they have 0.00 prices... others just not want to show 0.00

CSA/HCM Content Store - Access Manager Authentication

Earlier this year, Passport user accounts were migrated to Access Manager as part of the separation from HPE. However, ITOM Marketplace APIs such as the ones used in HCM/CSA Content Store were not able to make this migration and have continued to use Passport Credentials to authenticate. ITOM Marketplace Team announced last week the Access Manager support for all ITOM Marketplace APIs.

To update your credentials to Access Manager in Content Store, first create an Access Manager account here if you do not have one. If you access entitled software, you should also configure your entitlements and contracts in the My entitlements section here in MySupport. You can go to the Marketplace login page here and login using Access Manager to test your account if needed.

Please note Passport support will end August 30^th 2019, so please be sure to make this update before the end of the month to avoid interruptions.

HCM/CSA Content Store Configuration

To update your Content Store settings in HCM/CSA:

In the HCM/CSA Console Settings navigation frame, select Content Store.
Provide or update the following information:

Item	Description
User Name	The Micro Focus Access Manager account username.
Password	The password for the Access Manager username

Click Validate.

The validations pass/fail message appears at the top of the window.

Validation passed - the settings are all valid and the Content Store tile can be enabled.

Validation failed - one or more settings are not valid and the Content Store remains disabled.

If the validation fails, check the following:

You have access to the internet through the proxy information you provided.
Your Access Manager credentials are correct.
You have permission to access the CSA/HCM product page on the ITOM Marketplace.

Click Save when the configuration is validated to enable the Content Store tile.

Ajay,

As far as I remember, the CO alerts are purged from the CO database (typically after 90 days, but depends on your license), which then reflects on the alerts page in the CO UI.

If you are using the OBM integration, then the CO alerts sent to OBM as events are closed in OBM when the alerting condition is no longer met.

So 2 different behaviors, depending where you are looking.

Amazon Security Group information in MPP

Given that you are a user who want to order a machine at Amazon. You can choose your desired service and then you will be asked what security group you need. All you can see is the number of the security group but you cannot see the definition. There should be a way to display the definition of the security group in the MPP. The information are available at Amazon and they have an API for that but I think we don’t use it.

This is relevant also when you already ordered a machine and you cannot connect to it. We do not have the possibility to see any network related information. It seems that Flexera can do that.

Obviously, the security groups are only one example of many information available at the cloud provider. The reason behind that is, that users can order machines at HCM and do not require any login to the cloud provider. That means that we have to deliver these information.

Parallel Public actions in Customer portal (MPP)

Currently if a subscriptions has 3 or more VMs and user want to run an action to take snapshot of all the VMs same time, He cannot do it due to the limitation that action will run only on one VM and it will wait for this action to finish. Then only action on other VM can be started.

This behavior takes lo to of time for end user.

If user wants to do change CPU on one VM and change RAM on another VM of same subscription, he can't do it.

So the requirement is that HCM must provide the ability to execute the parallel public actions on multiple VMs within the subscription.

Currently, public actions like change CPU/RAM, Extend Disk, Create Snapshot etc. cannot be performed through it and it is blocker since most of the automation tasks are public actions.

It will be fantastic if Public Actions can also be executed through HCM CLI.

We are getting more and more demand for Out of the box HCM content for the following Resource Providers:

* Apache Cloudstack
* Nutanix
* IBM cloud

Currently we can only provide custom build workflows via REST API it seems.

I think we can significantly reduce time to market for our customer base using above Resource Providers. Hence I would like to propose to generate OOTB content for these platforms.

As per HCM and OO SAP Provisioning Content Release Notes, the content only supports S/4Hana deployments only up to version 1610. The latest versions out are 1709 and 1809 and must be supported as well. 1909 will be released in September 2019 and should then be supported as well.

Customers who want to install S/4HANA will always use the latest version because of enhancements and cumulative bug fixes from previous releases

We are facing similar issue in our environment and we received the hotfix "QCCR1D245181" but not for "QCCR1D245179". And we found the below url where it mentions about "QCCR1D245179", however there is no link to download. Does this mean this hotfix does not exist anymore, and the changes are present in latest hotfix, that is "QCCR1D245181"? Please revert back at the earliest.

Sometimes we have vCenter data sources with collection failed status from GUI,

Does CO raises any event for this notification or we should manually check from GUI or from log files ?

In Cloud Optimizer how Alerts generated will be closed ?

I can see lot of Alerts in CO but how these Alerts will be closed automatically ?

I think this will be too tricky to resolve. "Remove Disk" sounds so simple, but what about data and file systems and possibly LVM?

Modification of NICs/Disks is also challenging.

I would love to see just half of this implemented. It would already be a big step forward.

This one could become tricky, as it is dependent on the Network provisioning architecture within the target vCenter: NIC : Add / Modify / Remove

E.g. if the customer does not want to have all VM's (of different departments, sub customers in case of MSP) land on the same Vlan/subnet, which I see often, add NIC is always a custom OO/CSA development job.

is hardcoded in JavaScript. Can i store it in resource-alias.xml file somehow? And then how can i get exactly value "https://fqdnServer:8444/csa" from resource-alias.xml into the JS?

User Action Input Validation for Complex password

Dear Team,

we have requirements from customer for user action to provide Complex password in on of user Action operations,

So user has to provide password input, but since it's user input we need to validate it's complex and meet customer requirements for complex password requirements. so we have created JSP to validate password "Password-Validate.js" below content of that JSP that should be simple and forgive me if I miss something.

from Action to edit parameter with input validation as below.

while configure Parameters we are getting error as below "Option property with the name newpass is not found. If this refers to a new property, ensure that it is saved."

it's very confusing may be I missed something or configured it wrong.

an api for gettin offering's approval policy

we should have an apy for getting the precise approval policy of a offering .. because in the catalog there are many approval ,that we can choose when we publish an offering.

If we want to know from an api wich one is the api that have been choosen for the offering we can't do this now.

Hi ,

that is indeed a clever workaround.

currently this would be very complex for us as we would not only need to switch the automatic approval but also used approval policies and the offering publishing.

as far as i know the default approval is just at Order and Modify so you would need to activate it for maintenance also for Cancel and for all lifecycle actions.

we also have already delegated templates where the approval policy launches it self an OO flow so those would need to be switched to a different policy.

as far as i know all this would not cover Resource Pool Sync flows as well as Orderings that are already approved and reserved (start at a certain date orders)

so we would need to program a quite complex backup/restore process to make those changes.

at the moment we dry out a lot that comes in via CSA by disabling the MPP and placing a maintenance page. (also the MPP api we send via Reverse proxy and disable as well)

So we get already most of the customer interfacing requests away.

never the less some more integrated maintenance functionality in the Products would be great. at the end would like to see 0 downtime upgrades

Hi all, it's been a long time since the last post was made here, an I don't know if there was news from some sort of internal disccussions that happened in the meantime.

A agree that this will be a useful feature only for, as you said, for the content developers working on building and testing out the CSA content capsules. As fai as i know, i can't think about any other scenario.

I also like your proposal of a guided redirection to icognito mode, this could be od help. I could tell you that this is curretly the way in wich we are working now ro workaround this problem.

Hi , we had the needings of a simialr features. Hower we managed to resolve this in a quite smart way. To prevent CSA from starting new flow in OO, you can simply switch the approval policy of your Offering from the default "Automatic" policy, to a new customer created one, then this policy can be changed to Automatic or Manual approval.

Let me better explain that. Let's say we had created a new policy called "Default policy for Organization CONTOSO". This policy has the "Automatic" approval checkbox flagged. Every Offering that you will publish, will be tied to this this Approval Policy.

When you need to plan a shutdown, you can switch that policy from Automatic to Manual. In this way you can prevent CSA from starting new flow in OO.

We actually have a lot of policy, and we had created a flow in OO that is changing all of these policy from Automatic to Manual using CSA REST APIs. Of course we could restore all the policyes back to their state using the same flow.

Nowadays, when there is a fail in the LOGIN, CSA portal displays the error message based on JAVA Scripts and our monitoring tool cannot read the message inside of the used control. We would like to know if there is the possibility of creating a text error page for such kind of errors.
