Initial view in the 2019.05 UCMDB browser

I created a role in UCMDB which only shows our custom reports. However, the user doesn't see the CMS Home Page which shows overall view of what is in UCMDB. The individual reports are under OOTB_Reports_UCMDB_Home. While I can give users view rights to that group it did not show the CMS Home Page when you start the browser.

What resource type and view do I need to give users to get the initial splash screen after logging into the UCMDB browser?

Assign UD Inventory license to an existing CI in 10.33

Hello Exports,

When does UCMDB assign license to the CI?

Is it happening one time at first time discovery (creation) or it is changing with the assigned jobs?

If I use one of the jobs require UD Full to discover the CI first time, will I be able to change the job to a one that needs only UDI and then UD Full will not count anymore or I need to delete the CI and rediscover again?

I have number of Desktops assigned UD full and I need to move them to take UD Inventory; can we do that or need to delete these CI's and rediscover from the beginning.

We create an enrichment rule and when we activate, it indicates an error at the point of integration. For what the enrichment rule works, we have to have the integration point disabled.

Server processing failure-uCMDB error

Hello Experts

Whenever i'm trying to run an "Host Application by shell" or "Host Resources by Shell" CI are not triggering it saying "Server Processing failure" even my tql has defined properly and even i found shell job got properly discovered and also in IP Address properties "IP Probe Name" also got updated but still i'm getting error saying.

CP 2019.08 update over CMDB and CP 2019.05

Hi guys,

Has anybody experienced errors and/or warnings when updating CP 2019.08 over CMDB and CP 2019.05? Support matrix for CP 2019.08 states full compatibility with UCMDB 2019.05 (has CP 2019.05 OOTB)

Or any problems encountered after update?

Shoud I be worried for errors and warnings listed below? They happened exactly the same on 2 similar environments. Is this normal behavior for CP 2019.08?

(UCMDB Support Tip) Discovery not updating CI attributes - Last Access Time and Last Discovered Time

Summary

Why are the Last Access Time and Last Discovered Time not updated when a job runs for the 2nd time and there are no changes?

Solution

If there are no changes to the CI then these values are not updated until the Touch process runs. The sendTouchToServer job by default only runs once per day.

You can change appilog.agent.probe.sendTouchToServer.interval in DataFlowProbe.properties files, which has a default of 1 day (86400000) and restart the probe if you need the touch time to be updated more regularly. Beware that this will have a performance impact.

The touch mechanism is executed for all CIs at the same time for the probe. The Last Access Time and Last Discovery Time are not identical. The Last Discovery Time is the actual time of the last discovery. The Last Access Time can be can be updated by many different processes such as enrichment, integrations etc... The time here is the time the process updated it.

General Information about the Touch Process:

The very first touch time on a probe when it is installed is by default 0 o'clock UTC.

From then on there are potentially two formulas at play:

(1) If there is no start and end interval only Formula 1 is used:
Formula 1: System.currentTimeMillis() > lastTouchTime + tIntervalForTouchingResult;
e.g. default tIntervalForTouchingResult = 24h

(2) Example below when a start and end time are used and the interval is changed to 12h:

appilog.agent.probe.touchWindowMechanism.startTime = 00:59
appilog.agent.probe.touchWindowMechanism.endTime = 05:59
appilog.agent.probe.sendTouchToServer.interval = 43200000(12h)

Let's say that the lastTouchTime = '2019-06-16 01:30'.

We decide whether the touch should work by the following two Formulas:
Formula1: as above

Formula2:
currentTime(mm:ss) is greater than startTime (e.g. 00:59) and currentTime(mm:ss) is less than endTime (e.g. 05:59)

So given the example times above here are 3 scenarios.

(a) When the currentTime is '2019-06-16:13:30',Formula1 is true But Formula2 is false so the touch does not run.
(b) When the currentTime is '2019-06-17 00:59', though the lastTouchTime is 2019-06-16 01:30' but the tIntervalForTouchingResult is 12h.So Formula1 is true and Formula2 is also true. So the touch starts on schedule without any time shifted. We set the lastTouchTime to '2019-06-17 00:59'.
(c) When the currentTime is '2019-06-17 12:59' though Formula1 is ture, But Formula2 is false so the touch will not run.

Note: The times in the DataFlowProbe.properties are UTC. If the touch fails and is tried again then this can cause the time to move.

Update 10.33 to 2019.05. Tips

Hello everyone. I have been asked to migrate UCMDB version 10.33 to the most recent one, I think 2019.05 Based on your experiences or what recommendation does Micro Focus have for this procedure, is this update simple? Or should I consider implementing from scratch? Is there any documentation? Have you used 2019.05? How many improvements does it bring us or what is your recommendation of the best version of these last 10 months? Finally, how long will version 10.33 have support? Thanks for contributions.

Missing CI's in result of integration query

I have problem with OOTB integration UCMDB 11.x and AM 9.70. I would use push job to transfer CI's to AM, however there are missing CI's in result of integration query, that is processed on probe side.

As example I can specify following situation. There are two vmware clusters in UCMDB with same name but configured in different vcenter, co containment in UCMDB is different and separate in UCMDB. I have prepared TQL in UCMDB that should push this two cluster CI's to AM (query is based on ootb AM Cluster Push 2.0).

When I invoked calculateTqlAdHoc method in JMX, result is following:

I can't find any information what is class com.hp.ucmdb.spi.data.replication.ReplicationLayoutResultActionDataImpl and why only one CI is received as result from UCMDB.

Tuning installed software

We are running integrations from UCMDB to Asset Manager. There are a large number of software titles that we do not manage in asset manager. We get an error in the fcmdb.push.all.log about ERROR [AdHoc:AD_HOC_TASK_PATTERN_ID-163292-1570203011743] - >> The software title with Inventory Key value [Some unmanaged software title] has been ignored since the invent model record doesn't exists in AM. Is there a easy way to not even attempt to send unmanaged software titles to AM?

Timeout for VMware VirtualCenter Topology by VIM

We are running UCMDB 2019.05 on Windows. The VMware VCenter Topology by VIM gets triggered, but we get a Timeout warning and the details show that "Job was running more than 1msec". I don't see any timeout options in the adapter. The job had worked earlier in testing, but not now.

Any ideas?

I have an issue while invoking rest api authenticate to generate token from rest client.

I have an issue while trying to authenticate uCMDB through REST api reference that's provided by uCMDB to generate a token and to use that further to make REST calls so that client can get required CI Information. I could not generate token by doing a POST call.

Using Software ID tags to discovery local software

We are attempting to use software ID tags to discover in-house developed applications. I found the following support tip: "UCMDB Tip: Support of Software ID Tags in UD".

The final comment in the tip is: When tags are captured by Scanners during discovery, the data can be leveraged for improved Software Asset management and compliance.
You can create installed package rules that can match the information found in the Software ID tags and recognise software applications.

I can see the tag information in the scan file under “hwOSData/hwOSSoftwareIdTags”.

My question is how do I get from discovering the tag to creating an Installed Software type CI? Is this possible, does anyone have an example?

HA nodes were disabled for a while; when the primary was restarted, the reader/writer come up on the same server with the following error:

Issue:

Getting discovery fails for certain Data flow probes with error:

"Error processing results of discovery adapter, details error occurred when processing redundant results:

When tried the following steps:

1. Restarted Probe by clearing Probe data also ran discovery by clearingProbeCache

2. Restarted UCMDB server

However, issue persisted showing probe error:

retrieteTaskTouchResults for touchorg.postresql.util.PSQLException:ERROR:relation "ddm_discovery_touch_results_queu" does not exist.

Workaround:

Based on the errors reported, first it is suggested to refer to the CMS 11.0 documentation.

Class Model export with attributes qualifiers

Looking at the CI type manager I find several CI types which say "Obsolete class: replaced by logical_application_class". One example is the Business Service View CIT.

Where do I find information on the logical application class? I don't see it in the CIT manager.

Unable to login to UCMDB Browser

embedded postgres DB password authentication failed after reboot

I have UCMDB Server (with embedded Postgres) and a Probe running on my workstation for development work. After rebooting my workstation, the Postgres DB credentials no longer work for UCMDB Server service or manual logon via pgAdmin3 even though the UCMDB_Server_DB is gracefully shutdown.

What's the root cause and how can I avoid this issue?

Discovery warning "None Type object has not attribute get value"

uCMDB Asset Manager Integration

We haved integrated Asset Manager with ucmdb and we are push data from Ucmdb to Asset Manager throught AM push Adapter Integration Scenario.

SeAssignment is filed in Asset manager portfolio table .

When we Discovered new Device in UCMDB and push to AM to create a CI then SeAssignmentt value changes in use.

When we changed the se-assignment value manually in AM from in use to in stock then we reimage that asset, Once re-image done host name will change but not serial number and ucmdb will rediscover that asset with new host name and when we re-run the integration job that will push new discovered asset to AM but that doesn't change the serial number but host name will newly create in AM.

Wondering why ... it create new asset in AM ?How to make unique serial number and update Host name to existing serial number ?

also need to understand that if it's OOB feature or need to do the modification to achieve the requirement.

Configuration for running software on Linux using UCMDB 2019.05

I am running UCMDB 2019.05, CP 2019.08 on Windows 2016.

My configuration on UCMDB 10.22 for finding puppet running on Linux systems is working fine, but I cannot get UCMDB 2019.05 to discover puppet running on Linux systems (UCMDB does discover that the Puppet agent is installed). I have what I did on UCMDB 10.22 and looking at the documentation, but so far no luck.

This is what I have done:

In discovery modules I drill to Inventory Discovery by Scanneer

In the properties I click override for discoverRunningSW and added Puppet-Agent to the list

In global configuration files I edit applicationsSignature.xml

I created a Software Signature ID of Puppet-Agent in category Monitoring, CI Type RunningSoftware, Product Name Puppet-Agent. In identifying processes I have name ruby,ports all and command line /opt/puppetlabs/puppet/bin/ruby.

My notes have me removing the Inventory Discovery by Scanner Job in existing jobs/zones. I don't recall doing that and I have created new zones after the modifications above and they still don't discover the puppet agent working.

Did my notes skip a step. The manual has the same steps.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are running Active Directory discovery to discover our AD topology. The Active Directory Domains are populated, but aren't really linked to anything outside of the AD realm. We are looking to tie Nodes to their respective AD Domain. CI Type Manager does not show any direct link between AD Domain and Node.

Is there an indirect link between AD Domain and Nodes (such as workstations and servers -- not the domain controller itself)? Has anyone created a direct link between AD Domain and Node?

Export Report for Data Consumers

In our environment we have quite a few data consumers interested in CIs we store in the ucmdb. They authenticate themselves using LDAP (active directory) users. Some are currently consuming TQL queries over the REST-API (POST to rest-api/topology). In order to gain more control over what people consume and for additional abstraction, I would like them consume reports. But I don't see how LDAP authenticated users can export reports in an automated manner. Also the data should be represented by uCMDB in a machine processable format (XML/JSON/CSV).

I don't really understand how people can consume data, especially reports from ucmdb automatically. Can you maybe share how you have solved this in your environment?

High availability issue (Writer/Reader are the same server)

I shutoff my HA for awhile... when I re-enabled it, the same server becomes the Writer and the Reader. The JVM starts up and all the processes are online then abends and restarts.

I did inadvertently run the secondary node in non-HA while it was connected to the same database. 😕

Any ideas?

Does anyone here have hands on experience with switching off advanced discovery jobs to release full UD license point on server?
Is there specific list of discovery jobs which cause server consumes full Advanced license (beyond what is written in licensing guide).

Host Resources and Applications by Shell job cosume Advanced License

We have a problem with Inventory job using Host Resources and Applications by Shell. This job used to inventory discovery 2 unix servers. But license summary report shows these 2 servers consuming 2 Advanced license.

We're using CMS 2019:05 out-of-box.

- When we discovered infrastructure using Host connection by Shell, license report display correctly. These 2 servers cosumed Inventory license only.

- Right after we ran Inventory job using Host Resources and Applications by Shell. This job changed CI Full license attributes from false to true and consume Advanced license instead of Inventory.

Obviously, Host Resources and Applications by Shell is an Inventory job not an Advanced discovery job.

Could you please help me check this?

VMware VirtualCenter Topology job by VIM - Job was running more than 900000 msec

After upgrade of uCMDB application to version 2019.05, VMware vCenter discovery jobs are not working on all Vcenter appliance.

We are facing an issue for one of the vCenter appliance, where VMware VirtualCenter Topology job by VIM is not working. New VMs are not getting populated. Error thrown is "Job was running more than 2700000 msec"

We tried with default value 900000 msec but it failed with Fatal Error "Job was running more than 900000 msec"

and then increased it to 1800000 (Max. execution time) on discovery adapter but again it failed with Fatal Error "Job was running more than 1800000 msec"

We again then increased Max. execution time to 2700000 on discovery adapter but again it failed with Fatal Error "Job was running more than 2700000 msec"

Any workaround to resolve the issue ?

I would have expected CVG001 to show PHIDAM as well.

Configured uCMDB with Reverse Proxy and CAC, how should embedded uCMDB-browser be configured?

We are running version 10.30.

I have configured uCMDB with Reverse proxy and CAC (and ldap). Everything works well with the ucmdb-ui. I need to type in my pincode for my card and gets logged in with my ldap user.

However, how should the (embedded) ucmdb-browser be configured?

The ucmdb-ui on the apache reverse proxy:

The documenation says for browser says:

But I only end up with the login screen for uCMDB Browser where it asks me for the username and password.

Am I missing something? Or doesn´t CAC work with the uCMDB Browser if you have a reverse proxy?

When I run "UCMDB:service=Licensing Services. Method: invokeLicenseCalculation" from the JMX console I get the message "Successfully run license calculation.".

Where can I see the results of the license calculation? Now that we have upgraded to 2019.02 the Compliant/Non-compliant flag has disappeared from the client.

UCMDB is causing a SQL Server performance issue

Starting several weeks ago, after upgrading to 2019.02, we started experiencing SQL server issues. Around 9:30 each morning the UCMDB database id starts the sys.sp_helpdistributor stored procedure against the master database. This then spawns almost 600 distributor_admin processes which tie up all of the SQL server processes. These distributor_admin processes time out after 30 minutes and then everything is fine again. However for 30 minutes each morning SQL Server is essentially locked up.

Has anyone else run into this?

I need to disable the normalization rules for a specific population adapter in UCMDB 2018.11.

Issue: The documented procedure/setting does not disable normalization rules for the adapter.
Even with restarting and re-creating the integration point the normalization rules are still active for this adapter.

Has someone managed to disable them successfully?

In the uCMDB’s Modeling Studio, we are facing some challenges when trying to build a specific request to extract some of our CIs. We want to extract all the CIs of one specific CI type which can have upward and/or downward relationships with other CIs of the same type. In this case, the relationships involved are all of the type “usage”. The problematic lies in the fact that several of these CIs satisfy conditions from all levels of our request, which mixes up the results in the report.

The query appears quite simple: from a central CI, we want to know how many and which CIs of the same type are link upward by usage relationships, and conversely how many and which CIs of the same type are linked downward by usage relationships (see attached example 1)

We want all “CI-Main” to be listed in the report and we want the total number and the names of upward (“CI-Up”) and downward (“CI-Down”) CIs to be specify for each “CI-Main”, if any. This, cardinalities are as follow:

CI-Main: Usage (CI-Up, CI-Main) : 0..* & Usage (CI-Main, CI-Down) : 0..*

CI-Up: Usage (CI-Up, CI-Main) : 1..*

CI-Down: Usage (CI-Main, CI-Down) : 1..*

Here’s a case to illustrate our problematic, with fictive CIs A to F, all of the same CI type. In this CI type, there’s a total of a few thousands CIs. CIs B and C are linked above CI-A while CIs D, E and F, are linked below CI-A (see attached example 2)

When producing the report over our few thousand CIs, here’s what we would like to have in our report for this specific CI-A :

[CI-Main]: Display Label	Total ([CI-Up])	List([CI-Up] – Display Label)	Total ([CI-Down)]	List([CI-Down] – Display Label)
CI-A	2	CI-B, CI-C	3	CI-D, CI-E, CI-F

But here’s what we currently get in our report in the Modeling Studio:

CI-A	4	CI-B, CI-C, CI-E, CI-F	4	CI-C, CI-D, CI-E, CI-F

Now, the problem comes from the fact that each of these CIs can as well meet the conditions of “CI-Main”, “CI-Up” and “CI-Down”, creating some kind of loop in the displayed data of the report. For example, CI-E and CI-F also have themselves downward CIs (“CI-Down”) and it seems to be the reason why CI-E and F appear here as “CI-Up” for CI-A. Similarly, CI-C also have upward CIs (“CI-Up”), meaning it appears here as “CI-Down” for CI-A.

If I add a filter on the “CI-Main” to extract only CI-A, I get the desired results in my table. This workaround is not a viable solution since we have more than 5000 CIs we want to extract weekly.

Is there any query trick I could use to extract this data from the Modeling Studio?

I just noticed that node CIs (with particular attributes filled) become switches in the target UCMDB when being pulled with the standard ucmdb10.x adapter.

The history does not reveal anything about this change.

So far for me the only logic that changes a CI Type is reconciliation - but the target UCMDB is empty (no reconciliation merge can happen).

With a jython population adapter I created a single node CI (with particular attributes filled) to reproduce and test this CI type change:

This creates a switch:

Schedule an enrichment rule

I ran into an issue attempting to schedule an enrichment rule. When I create the new schedule the enrichment rule does not show up in the list of enrichment rules. I have verified that the the enrichment rule is active. We have a large number of enrichment rules, many of which are already scheduled. Is there a limit on the number of enrichment rules.

(UCMDB SUPPORT TIP) - MySQL DB is not discovered on many servers

Issue:

MySQL DB discovery is not working on many servers and on some servers, multiple MySQL instances are not discovered.

Solution:

MySQL By Shell isn't designed to report such a topology.
Also, currently UD has a limitation to discovery multiple MySQL instances hosted on a single server.
The Host Application By Shell job is input for MySQL By Shell job which in turn discover few other attributes for each MySQL.
A workaround was provided by R&D to add ip service endpoint, linked to MySQL, to identification rule.

Ucmdb Dynamic widget : How use refocusable option ?

I would like to use the option "refocusable" but I don't understand how it works.

I always finish with "No Data Available" after clicking on a refocusable link.

I would like to create a dynamic widget for "Business Application" wich list some information and the list of "Computer" linked (refocusable option ?) and be able to click on a "computer link" to focus on it and show selected attributs from the CI.

I tried to select the both type of CI as "Contact Query Node" but it doesn't work

Any idea of how to do that ?

Host Discovery by Shell use of lsof command

Hi,

For ASM discovery on Unix/linux servers at Host Discovery by Shell Job, when we have the root access to following 2 commands, then why there is a need of access to lsof command.

netstat -nap
ps -ef

Note, as per customer's security policy lsof is not allowed to be installed on all the servers but if we don't install the lsof package then ASM discovery fails with following error:

The discovery job did not find any process listening on port: <port_number>

Can anyone suggest workaround to avoid lsof package installation but still discover the Weblogic on Web Server.

API LinkConditions - How manage Cardinality

Hello,

Until now i could use urllib2 to connect directly to various APIs through python scripts, but for a new case (for instance connection to a sharepoint site to retrieve lists), i found 2 solutions but none of them are working :

- Using the "requests" module, which seems to be present on the probe but i can't import it in my script with this error : "ImportError: No module named urllib3".
- Importing a new urllib2 compatible library, but i can't manage to do it : i first tried to import all the .py files as external resources for my package, but i found that all externals libraries are in a package named "ThirdPartyLibs", but i don't know how to add my lib (python-ntlm) to it.

Any advices ? I can't find documentations for this.

max number of baselines?

Dear all, is there a limit in the number of BASELINES which can be held for a specific Topology report? Or as an overall number?

I searched lots of JMX settings and the manuals, but was not successful in finding a number.

This is important because customer would like to be able to compare baselines for around 10 years.

External source import: mysql fails with "SQL Internal Error: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"

Hi,

I'm in a sticky situation. After upgrading from 10.22(CP18) to 2019.05 (with a pit-stop for 2019.02 on the way, as is required), my integration that is reading from a mysql database has broken.

No changes were made, and on 10.22 it ran perfectly with no issues.
On 2019.02 (and 05 now), the integration does not run, and returns an error:
"SQL: Internal error. Details: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver".

Communication log is a bit more usefull:
ERROR class="java.lang.ClassNotFoundException"

Again, all settings SHOULD be ok, as this has been working for YEARS beforehand. No config changes were done at all. It seems to be something borked on the Content Pack install. Anyone help?

Usage of wildcard characters while defining file based rule in USAI

Recently I came across a situation where I need to teach a Application (suppose name being Logsee) via file based approach. However the file names related to Logsee (the application is question) are something like these: Logsee_daemon1, Logsee_daemon2, Logsee_config1, in short all the files related to the application start with the prefix "Logsee_". Can I do a file based teaching where I can specify the filename to be like Logsee_* , instead of specifying individual files?

Hello:

We have a strange behaviour in UCMDB 2019.02 with "Inventory Discovery by Manual Scanner".

For the first time, if we scanned a computer launching the scan.exe in the computer and copy the scanned file (local.xsf) to the Incoming folder of probe the probe procesates the scanned file and later we launch the "InventoryDiscoveryByManual Scanner Deployment" job in the UCMDB.

This job communicates with the probe and sends back to the UCMDB the results of the scanned file. The first time everything goes well. We can see in the UCMDB the node with their elements (DisplayMonitor, Installedsoftware...etc)

Later in time, if we launch again the "InventoryDiscoveryByManual Scanner Deployment" (with no scanned files in the probe) the CI's that we marked to AutoDelete in the "InventoryDiscoveryByManualScannerDpeloyment" adapter, deletes from the UCMDB.

The option "Enable Automatic Deletion" supposes to deletes the CI's thar are missing after discovery last run, but in the second launch of the job there are no scanned files to process.

Why is this strange behaviour.

Paging and sorting using rest api executeQueryByName

to get the query result.

I successfully invoked the API and get a result list for my queries.

However, I want to have the result sorted by certain field and get the result by pages.

Is there any way to achive this through API?

We cannot find any documentation regarding the restAPI method /topology/queryNameWithParameters .

In the swagger the body seems to be a copy/paste of the standard topology query.

I assume the body should be something like the queryName + its defined customer parameters instead.

vCenter Topology - IP is skipped despite being in Probe IP range

We have a number of servers being skipped by the vCenter Topology (but ok with the Host Connection by shell job) with the usual message and we don't understand why :

"VM 'xxxx': is skipped for its IP(10.66.0.31) is out of Probe IP range"

However this IP is indeed part of a range that should be scanned :

Also we've a number of servers with "None" as the IP (also excluded obviously), it's probably because VMware Tools are not installed on them (appliances on which we cannot do that), any way to handle them properly ?

For information, we've put the "discoverUnknownIPs" to false because we don't want to retrieve some servers.

scheduled reports

The sending on demand of the report works correctly.

Rest-API PUT without last access time update

We would like, as we can do in enrichment rules, avoid updating the "last access time" attribute to prevent potentials "candidate for deletion" nodes being "extended".

Creating a SAN entry for Cert to have ucmdb UI work with Chrome

I am trying to create a cert with a SAN entry so I can get the UCMDB UI to work with chrome and other browsers. I currently have a cert from a CA on the server but when i try and create a new cert with a san entry i get a syntax error. Has anyone else created one successfully?

uCMDB 2019.05 - Child CIT's attribute not visible in Report section

We have observed that attributes have been removed from the Reporting section in uCMDB.

In uCMDB 10.33,when Node CI Type is used in the view, all the attribute of Node CIT + all attributes of Unix CI Type can be added in the reporting section.

But in uCMDB 2019.05 when Node CI Type is used in the view, all attribute of Node can be added + no attribute of Unix CI Type can be added in the reporting section.

Following key attributes of Unix CIT are missing in the report now when we have the Node CIT in view

Inventory by Scanner Scheduling Efficiency

I'm trying to configure my inventory by scanner jobs to run more efficiently and it appears that the inventory job is not completing during the 14 day interval that I've configured.

I have my inventory jobs split across ~15 different probes to distribute the load. However when I go to Data Flow Probe status and open the inventory job I notice that the Last Duration field shows around 21 / 22 days regardless of how many scans are triggered. See pic. This job triggers 2791 scans for two weeks. Any ideas how I can get this to run within the two week interval? Is this too many triggers for a two week interval?

Fetching rest-api data with standard Json parser

We're trying to populate data in different tools from our CMDB through the rest-api.
Calling queries or directly with a Json body is working fine, but the output is causing us some problems, due to the relations also being objects in the CMDB datamodel.

Our first objective is to automatically (live or scheduled) populate a technical architecture document listing all servers with their characteristics (cpu, ram, filesystem size, ip addresses...), instead or manually updating all the stuff, we're using Atlassian Confluence in this case.

Some of the tools like Confluence have native Json parsers or through extensions, but they're not adapted to parse this kind of json output, since it's not a "tree" as they would expect, each object being separated.

Is there a way to have a more standard Json output as a tree, directly handled by the api call ? Or is there an external tool or SDK which could help transforming that ?

We're planning to develop our own solution to transform the output to make it usable by external tools, but maybe someone already did this or have a better solution.

We recently upgraded from 10.22 to 2019.02. It now seems like everything is now running significantly slower. We regularly see timeouts when getting the probe status, integration jobs which previous ran in 10 minutes now take two hours, and discovery jobs are taking more than twice as long.

1) Are there any specific issues, or changes, for v2019.02 that we should look at?

2) Is there a general methodology for troubleshooting performance issues?

Service Manager integration job failure due to NullPointerException

When / how does push back of uCMDB ID to Service Manager happen?

We are populating data from Service Manager to uCMDB and pushing uCMDB ID's back to SM.

Chunk size is configured to 500 and we have over 12k CI's to import from SM on the integration job.

When / how does pushing back of uCMDB ID happen? From what we have seen, uCMDB is doing the following:

Import CI's in batch of 500
After every batch push back the uCMDB ID's for 500 CI's one by one (500 push requests) - even if uCMDB id has not changed
Import the next batch and repeat until all data is imported / IDs pushed back

On Probe server, discovery_probe.exe process is opening new TCP connection for every one of those uCMDB ID push back requests. Also on SM side we can see that hundreds of REST requests are coming to push back uCMDB IDs.

Is this a designed/wanted behaviour? Is there any configuration option available for SM adapter to handle this differently?

Exporting used credentials per host

We would like to export a list of credentials used per host, but we can't find any way to do this directly in the client.

Each used credential is directly "configured" on an Agent CI (not through a relation), so it doesn't seem to be usable in a report

Does anyone know if it's possible to achieve this ? Maybe querying the database directly or through the JMX Console ?

We are using UCMDB 11 with CP 26. We are running Agentless Discovery and are able to Discover "Hard Disk" and its "Serial Number" details for Windows machine. But we are unable to Discover the "Hard Disk" and its "Serial Number" details for Linux machine.

Host Resources and Applications job is bringing the Hard Disk and Serial Number details for Windows. But im unable to find the command to get the Hard Desk and Serial Number details in the Script.

UCMDB integration point Monitoring

Hi All,

I am trying to get some report (or alert) of the status of integrations. My customer is currently using over 30 integrations (various imports from databases, several SCCMs, integration with MF SM, BSM, and many more).

Thing is, whenever one of these integrations decides that working is not for them, I get no warning, all appears fine. Only by going daily into integration manager can I see if everything is fine.

Even worse, If my 3rd party database imports fail because the database trigger CI has been deleted (happens sometimes, as I am importing database instances from a database, and sometimes merging changes the global ID of that instance, removing the reference on the integration point) the integration point shows as "green" but if I open it, It says "integration point not found".

So what I really need is something like a report of how many CIs have been changed / created, per integration point. Exactly the same as we get on the "statistics" pane.

Is there anything on JMX console that can output this? Some report? Ideally I'd prefer getting a report by mail with this...

(UCMDB SUPPORT TIP) - UCMDB to UCMDB data push integration fails with Subgraph related error

Issue:

In the event of having an integration adapter defined which pushes data from Actual state to Authorized state, however this job fails with an error that there were no Subgraphs found for the query. When define Subgraphs however, the job fails with an error stating that "Replication is not supported for TQLs with SubGraphs".

Workaround:

Pushing data from Actual state to Authorized state is a not supported or intended flow. Please note there is not a business case for this flow. Authorization should be done from CM/SM and not by using other workarounds. If there are issues with CM they should be addressed separately.

UCMDB to AM Push adapter - External Class model not showing in mapping tool

I am discovering VMWare infrastructure using VMware vCenter Connection by WMI and VIM job, followed by the VMware vCenter Topology by VIM job.

After discovery observed that, it has not identified SUSE linux as Unix CI type, but it has included RHEL in Unix CI type.

Please let me if I need to do any additional configuration for this.

Not all relationship labels show up correctly in uCMDB Browser

Hi all,

We run CMS Browser version 11 standalone together with uCMDB Server 11.2.

We face now an issue with NOT showing the label for certain kind of relationsships, in uCMDB Server they are visible, but when we open them in the CMS Browser, they don't show up in the tooltip.

In the attachment there are 2 examples, one from a correct relationsship label and one for a non showing.

Any tip for us where we need to go to solve this?
