New item in the enumeration list location_type_enum

The enumeration list location_type_enum contains old values.

We need to update the list with possible items that can be populated from the cloud discovery jobs.

Currently all the cloud discovery jobs which report Location CIs will report the attribute Location_type populated with the value Undefined, We should populate them with Cloud or something meaningful.

We use the Service Manager Enhanced Adapter to transport data from the UCMDB to the Service Manager.

After a synchronization, you can see in the statistics window how many CI created, updated, deleted and failed.

Unfortunately, it does not show which CIs were affected (created, updated, deleted and failed.)

Therefore, it would be good, with a click on the appropriate number to see also details (ate least the CI display_name). That would help us quickly with problems. This functionality should also be helpful with other push adapters.

Inventory only licenses Use tag

There is reasons that we buy inventory only licenses because that is all that we want. We didn’t care about the topology of them. However, all topology discovery adapters will discover them regardless whether we want them to be inventory only or not. This is so because the routers and switches and vCenter that provide those topology information like Layer2, will provide details of all connected devices.

-Briefly describe your idea

Inventory license only devices need to have a place of its own without regard to how the operation of the topology discovery adapters. Topology connection information for those inventory license only devices can either be withheld or not getting update at all.

-Benefits / Value

Keep the integrity of the product licensing to a point that customer can validate and plan accordingly.

-Explain why is this important? (When used, by which role, and benefits / value)

If product license options that are sold on the basis of Full or Basic, then they must be honor as such. The dynamic change of consumed licenses, that are due to discovery adapters, isn’t something that we customers can have control because those discovery adapters themselves have no control inherently. This dynamic change actually is causing major headache because we have no control over how each device is to consume the license and thereby getting penalized for violation.

Additionally, because the license consumption is an attribute that cannot be changed, all license updates by the discovery adapters are final, and change can only be done by deleting all nodes. This is very disruptive and unmanageable because all history will be gone, and the management and reporting of configuration changes will not be possible.

For UCMDB –CIT integration there should be a format defined for a data export to include all the TQL

close UCMDB Job thread workers and release the DB Thread Pools to return memory to the System

UCMDB Probe Job Thread workers are shared pool workers, once they are created, they will never be destroyed. The same is true with the DB Pool Threads where once created, they are never to be destroyed. The only controlling mechanism is the maximum worker and maximum number of DB Thread pool. Such a systematic behavior lead to the ever growing consumption of the system memory without ever returning them to the system. Eventually, the system will be brought down to its knees where routine diagnostics of the system cannot be done unless the probe is restarted.

System administrators often are tasked to maximize the usage of the system resources. With the above system behavior, we often have to budget at least 4G of RAM that are free at all time knowing that the system once start running the jobs, it will take up all the available memory. In the world of VM, the above system behavior works against the principle of resource sharing. This becomes the serious offender when we know those worker threads and DB Pool Threads are simply idling in the background.

As a result, we are requesting that those Job Workers and DB Thread Pools once finished their tasks, they shall be closed. Then for performance reasons, they can be closed only after a certain amount of idling time.

The same is true for the "xmlenricher_service.exe" which is the enrichment process for the handling of the scan files. They too only get activated when scan files is available. Once all scanning activity are done, they too remain as idling in the background with all the memory gobbled up where the only way to control its use is through the maximum memory parameter.

In our environment, the probe scans the server and network devices once a week, and those jobs literally are all completed within one day of time during the weekend. As you can see, after the job is completed, without any extra buffering of the memory, the system would be remaining at over 95% use of all system memories. In that scenario, it is difficult to make any attempts to log into the system and execute any kind of commands.

UCMDB job status change after job not started at scheduled time

Hi,

i would like to suggest a change in UCMDB UI Job displayed status when the job was not started at scheduled time.

My Customers expectation is to see in UI (informationally for Admin or Operator) that the job was not run at scheduled time.
Now, once the job skippes (no mather the reason) the scheduled run, We still see the latest status - in our case Successfull (green, which is actually wrong),
Proper status in that situation should be anything else but not "green", because there was something disturbing in correct working.

In my case, the skipped job has been found, because some very important system (MF Service Manager) was not supplied with fresh data and Business unit was lack with info.
For instance. Think about some less important system which was not supplied 5 or 10 times in row. In UCMDB UI We would still see a SUCCESS status.

This is needed when then is no unique central inventory but multiple oraInventory in case the Oracle installations on a same server are fully separated from each others and Oracle not necessarily installed via the Oracle Universal Installer.

Kubernetes discovery additional Node CI attributes

MAC Address (with related Interface)
Related IP
1. Name
2. Populate Authoritative DNS with the FQDN (wish list, not required).

We understand if any of the above attributes are not accessible during the discovery due to limitations within K9 API, however at minimum Name, however one other key attribute would be much appreciated to obtain the most possible accurate merge or no merge reconciliation condition during data-in.

Include sequence number in compound relations

Hello, when displaying compound relations it will helpful to include a sequence number (and actually display the lines in sequence).

When you define complex compound relations that use the same CI types, it becomes difficult to understand what the compound relation is supposed to do.

Create list of all triggered CIs for a discovery job

Is there a way to get a list of all of the triggered CIs for a particular discovery job? The Discovery Status job will report CI's which ended with warning or error. I am looking for a way to get all triggered CIs including those which were successful.

For example, I would like to get a list of all of the triggered CI's for host connection by shell. I would then compare that list against other sources to help verify that everything in the environment is getting discovered.

We observed in the process of discovering volume size of the Storage Volumes, UD is discovering only the total size of the volumes but its not capturing the snapshot reserve size of the volumes.

Customers requirement is to get the volume size as both total volume size + snapshot reserve size of the volume. So it will be great if you fix this issue in forth coming patch.

Add the hextoraw functionality to improve the CI history information tab response

The UCMDB is already using the hextoraw function over the 98+% of the time, The recommendation is to set that function at the 100% of the sql querys to avoid the impact over the UCMDB performance.

UD Agent process crashes with an application error

UD Agent process crashes with an application error when the load of the target server becomes heavy like 100% of CPU usage while running discovery jobs. It seems to be a bug.

The UD Agent should not crash with an application error immediately. I think, for instance, it should wait for a little time and retry to perform commands.

Make Document Root Technical Name consistent between Ci Types

Currently, the Document Root attribute in the apache CI Type has a technical name of document_root. However the Document Root attribute in the webvirtualhost CI Type has a technical name of documentroot. This requires additional coding/handling for downstream applications since the technical names are not consistent.

Having consistent technical names for the same named attributes across all CI types reduces confusion and prevents additional coding/handling for downstream applications.

Discover ORACLE HOME and ORACLE Alert Log Files Dir

Brief Description

Our idea is to expand the current Oracle Discovery pattern to be able to not only gather the data for ORACLE_HOME, but also have a home for it as well inside the UCMDB. Alongside, getting a attribute field for the data for ORACLE_HOME, we would also like to propose the idea of also gathering the data for the location of alert log files for Oracle as well.

Benefits/Value

These enhancements benefit use greatly in helping provide the best monitoring of any Oracle Databases that our customers would like to have monitored. This data will be used today for testing monitoring templates which again will be used for the benefit of our customers when we onboard Oracle DBs if they wish to have them monitored. This data will help with finding the location of the oracle software in the Oracle DB, another crucial piece for the monitoring.

Design Details

For ORACLE_HOME we would like to see this data populate the attribute on the Oracle instance CI itself - Application Installed Path. This would suffice just fine for creating the monitoring templates now. For the future, however, if it can be made into a separate CI class itself and a composition relationship from the Oracle DB Instance to the new ORACLE_HOME CI, this method would be the best says the Oracle DB admin from the Oracle team that is creating these templates. And for the alert log file, if it is possible for this data to be housed in a Log File CI. We have similar Log File CIs for our IIS Discovery and if we could possibly replicate how the data is being stored for an IIS Log File, figured the same could be done for Oracle Log File CIs. The Log File CI would be in a composition relationship from the Oracle instance to the Log File CI.

Make Views "Not Active" by default to increase performance

hi,

by default if you create a new view in modeling studio it will get a priority of Medium which means it will be re-calculated every 30 seconds. however this it not required as an end user only needs to see the view results on demand.

also all the views which are deployed with UCMDB out of the box should be changed to "Not Active" as usually 99% of the existing ootb views are not used by anyone.

I guess (hope) reducing the number of active TQLs could save quite some load on the system.

non privleged PowerShell discovery

Hello,

We are currently discovering windows servers with PowerCMD, but want to discover with the PowerShell discovery, but there are some things we noticed.

1. The PowerShell discovery needs .Net3.5 and the Powershell2.0 engine installed in order to run
Our company security does not allow us to use these old and deprecated versions.

2. You need to be local administrator in order to do the discovery right.
Our company does not allow the discovery user to be local admin

3. The PowerShell discovery uses a powershellconnector.exe on the probe
this connector is limited in it's use and does not support all the powershell commands

Our Windows administrators asked us if it is possible to edit the powershell discovery so we can connect to another powershell configuration that supports JEA (Just Enough Admin) which allows the discovery user to be a virtual local admin during the discovery and deletes it's privileges after the discovery is finished. This way it's more secure. We've tested it with the PowerCMD discovery and it works.

OEM Discovery

Hello,

In the past we received a OEM adapter, but due to company restrictions we weren't able to discover OEM.
I recently obtained credentials to connect to OEM and i can execute the SQL statements that the discovery tries to execute. We now run into another problem, we can only connect to OEM through remote oracle listeners on it's servicename.

So the current connection (Host, SID) does no longer work.
Is it possible to change de discovery so that we can connect through oracle listeners with it's servicename?

Discovering SQL Error log location

The current MSSQL discovery pattern cannot locate MSSQL error logs' location. These logs are crucial for our monitoring team to create monitoning templates that will be used for our customers when they want their MSSQL servers monitored. Someone from the MSSQL team has created a sql command that he hopes will help in expanding the current MSSQL discovery pattern to find the location of the error log files.

Here's the sql command from the MSSQL team member:
SELECT

WHERE
registry_key LIKE N'%MSSQLServer\Parameters' and convert(varchar,value_data) like '-e%'

This query will provide output as follows –
Errorlog directory

They need to truncate first 2 character i.e. “-e” which will give directory location.
Not quite sure where this directory can be placed once this has been added and we can discover the error log location.

Online help is no longer available after UCMDB 10.33

I think it should be available as is online help for other products, though maybe online help is going away for all products.

-CyberArk does not store user domain information, while authentication to vCenter or any other system, user domain is critical in identifying the user. Therefore, it is critical that the user domain be made available to specify by the UD Administrators; presently the work around is to have vCenter set the default that matches the UD User domain name. Additionally, when referencing the CyberArk Object in UD, UD has a syntax verification that disallows the use of “.” in the Object name; this caused integration problem with the CyberArk, and the present workaround is to have CyberArk manually alter the default Object name to accommodate the limitation.

-A separate field named User Domain Name is required, and remove the syntax verification of the CyberArk Objection name during the configuration of the CyberArk settings in UD.

Pulling Tenant information in UCMDB-NNMi Topology Integration

In Multi-tenant environment, default UCMDB-NNMi Topology Integration adapter does not pull tenant information of monitored node to UCMDB. Currently tenant assignment is managed in UCMDB by using "Tenant Assignment Rules" based on Naming conventions and IP ranges. But it is very risky and forces customer to follow some norms.

Since tenant information is very much important in Multi-Tenant environment, it should be updated automatically during Topology Sync.

we would like to have the ability to create a calculated attribute that can be similar to display label (so that can be combined with one or more attributes), but with the regex possibility for use part of the text.

This is can be used for example for create an attribute that reports all details of an operating system in one attribute, for example: Suse 12 Enterprise x64 sp3.

This could be done without more expensive enrichment rules.

Ability to do a clear probe cache for a single element and not for all the job

Hi,

I would like to propose a new feature on ucmdb. Normally we can do an entire probe clear cache or a job probe clear cache, but, in some cases can be usefull a single item clear cache.

For example host and application by shell is a job that when there are a great number of discovered nodes has major impact on the ucmdb queue when we do a clear probe cache (job). In this job happen usually that a node reports wrong data for the probe cache issues, and in the most of this cases can be solved by a single item clear cache.

I would like to suggest thinking of discovery mechanisms for NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Couchbase...).

A lot of customers are asking for such functionality, as especially big data products seem to rely on those - and as those would normally also be modeled in the Service and Application trees, that would definitely make sense from my point of view.

And it would also be a USP against other vendors out there...

uCMDB - Oracle IDM SSO

uCMDB should support the use of Oracle IDM SSO for the SSO needs.

Even thought we can make the Oracle IDM work with uCMDB today, the session timeouts and the user inactive timeout has to be managed separately and doesn't work as intended.

We have noticed it is possible to export a user.zsai file to an xml, for external processing, for exemple.

It would be great if a tool the other way around existed, meening being able to generate a user.zsai file doing a "Import from file", select xml file, in the case of mass modifications needed of this user.zsai file.

Of course, the xml will have to respect the needed structure.

Discovering Maximum Size for SQL File

After opening a ticket and working with a support person from MicroFocus to help in our discovery for MSSQL. The ticket specifically was open to help get the attribute Maximum Size populated for the SQL File CI. I received word from the support person who talked with a senior engineer about the case and they checked the OOTB scripts and they found that unfortunately there are no scripts for the SQL jobs that can discover this Maximum Size attribute. This was a suggestion from them to post this idea here in the Idea Exchange for a enhancement request for future releases to be able to discover this data.

Currently this is a required attribute from our MSSQL monitoring team to help them create monitoring templates that will be used for our customers for any MSSQL DBs they would like to have monitored.

Discover OS Groups

I never seen any documentation related to Automated service modeling where it explains how to discover. I have seen many customers trying to do this discovery but failed. But what are the prerequisites ? what are the best practices ? I remember i tried to discover ucmdb application itself ( Starting with its URL ) and its not able to do the discovery properly. And i am sure it didn't because i may be doing it in wrong way. But i was unable to find a documentation related to how to do this.

With some best practices, scenarios, or limitations or permissions which are required for this to discover everything. I am sure this will add value to the tool.

Cloud Foundry discovery associates all foundations to a single Application System CI

Currently PCF discovery associates all independent foundations to a single Application System (, Cloud Foundry CI with Display Label/Name of Pivotal Application Service), which obscures the view into independent instances of PCF (URI Endpoints). We would like to see a different grouping than currently: Discovery should group all the CIs associated with the Cloud Foundry application system that are relevant for a URI Endpoint. URI Endpoint should be a container with components related downstream (like the node CI is modelled).

ASM for SMAX and other container based applications

It would be useful when the header of the CMS UI could easily be modified (at the moment it’s static, could only be changed in infrastructure setting).

It should be a notification (as it is in other MF tools) e.g. to communicate a downtime next week or server restart or maintenance window.

Should be bold and colourful, so an user is aware of the message.

It’s something like the Splash Screen, but it should be shown always. Otherwise the user just click it and forget it.

Virtualbox extension pack Recognition issue

The software "Virtualbox extension pack"(a plguin of Virtualbox) install on windows, but it was not discovered by uCMDB 10.33 at the beginning , after report this issue to R&D we got a hotfix which recognize "Virtualbox extension pack" base on some special files,for example:VBox*.dll (the hotfix was already include in the latest DK package). But when the "Virtualbox" software uninstalled from the device, the "Virtualbox extension pack" installedSoftware CI remain in uCMDB and sacn file,the root cause is that the VBox*.dll files are not deleted during the uninstallation,which means the recognition base on file is not a good solution for "Virtualbox extension pack"

From customer's perspective , when the software uninstalled from device ,there should no "Virtualbox extension pack " and "Virtualbox" in uCMDB and scan file any more.

We found some entry of "Virtualbox extension pack " in the registry ,but the entry not in the below location:

We have uCMDB 10.33 and Asset Manager. We found that all types of hypervisors in uCMDB (for example "IBM Hypervisor" or "Microsoft Hypervisor", they are all pushed to AM as a Software Installation of "VMware ESX" by job AM software Hypervisor Push.

This causes a huge problem in the calculation of compliance for hypervisor licenses. It is a major bug and the job should be corrected to pass to Asset Manager the correct type for each hypervisor.

Discovery of the Microsoft Failover Cluster Virtual Adapter

The Microsoft Clusters uses 169.254.x.y IP adresses for it's virtual adapters.

Since the 169.254.x.y adresses are also used as Link-Local adresses we have applied a filter to exclude them from the dscovery.

But they are needed to properly represent the Microsoft Failover Clusters.

The idea will be to enhance the MS Cluster discovery module to properly handle these virtual adapters even if the filter is applied.

UCMDB Job Performance Metrics Tracking

Since I am going through some of the competitor products, idea comes to my mind like why don't we track each Job performance metrics in discovery Job level. So that customer can split their job and handle the job based on probe and manage. This will give more benefit to the customer to track each job and manage the discovery in effective way. I don't know how to build this functionality, but other competitor has this functionality at lease in analytics and reporting level.

Synchronize logging between JMX-Console and log4j2_root.yaml

If I set, in the log4j2_root.yaml file: reconciliation.loglevel to DEBUG, then all files which use that appender are now in debug. If I further go into the JMX-Console and set cmdb.reconciliation.log into 'INFO', that single appender is now in INFO logging. It is not clear to a user why it is not in debug if it was changed from the JMX-Console. Further, on reboot it will revert back to DEBUG specified in the .yaml file. When log levels are changed in the JMX, they should reflect that change in the .yaml file in some way. This will again mitigate confusion on how to know which log level is being used.

Improve logging support via JMX Console

Currently in the method on the JMX Console of: loggersLevels, levels are listed such as:

appilog.framework.server.grouping.ResourceGroupingManagerImpl

This is not intuitive to the user which logs will be put into a 'DEBUG' log level. The only way to map this is to go into the log4j2_root.yaml file and check what the AppenderRef is to give some idea of what logs will be set into debug, and then look up each entry where that appender is mentioned to reveal which specific logs are set into debug.

The change:

Add which logs the appender will modify in the JMX, or at the very least, write the AppenderRef if it exists for that appender. This will mitigate SOME of the confusion.

Discovering the InterfaceSpeed for AIX

Initially opened a ticket with MicroFocus to see why we were not getting the attribute InterfaceSpeed populated in our UCMDB instances. With MicroFocus' help and the R&D team, we were able to get the InterfaceSpeed populated for the CIs that we currently have discovered and what needs to be changed in order to gather this data for future discovery. Unfortunately for AIX discovery that proved more problematic and time-consuming for the R&D team and suggested that we enhance the AIX discovery to make it OOTB for future releases of the UCMDB.

They suggested that I upload the following log to help with gathering the speed of the active network interface for AIX servers:

Our LINUX/UNIX/AIX expert explained to me that we didn't find a way to get the Network interface speed from a single command output. Rather found that the NMON is able to send the monitoring sample to a spreadsheet readable file ( like CSV, comma separated file) so we can generate a script to get a couple of samples and grep from this file the data we required; something like this:

cd /tmp

export NMON=n - this indicates nmon to caught the network sample

nmon -c 2 -s 5 –f - This generates the CVS file at /tmp

root@labaix72a:/tmp> grep BBBN *.nmon - it creates a file called ServerName_date_hour.nmon as example on my server : labaix72a_190819_1503.nmon

Here is the data you are looking for , we can grep by en0, en1 instead of BBBN, I used BBBN because I found it is network related.

We need the attribute InterfaceSpeed for our monitoring purposes. This was brought up to us by our Linux team for PDXC that they will need this in the near future for monitoring and although it wasn't mandatory for the initial discovery, they wanted to let us know that way we can look into getting this information and hopefully have it for later when they do need it for creating monitoring templates later for our customers' needs later on when they need it. The MicroFocus R&D team thought this log would be a great thing to post here to hopefully get added to the OOTB UCMDB for just in case someone, somewhere else runs into the same issue when discovering this particular data for AIX.

UD licensing documantation is not concrete concerning the custom discoveries

The documentation about the license usage for custom UD adapters is not concrete. For example in this 11+ guide (https://docs.microfocus.com/UCMDB/11.0/ucmdb-docs/docs/eng/doc_lib/Content/dfm/disc_c_licensing_ovw.htm) we see: "Workstations will never consume an Advanced license” BUT in the table we see that only Advanced discovery includes 'Customized discovery' AND it’s not clear what will happen with the generic ‘Node’ with no enough attributes to determine if it’s a server or workstation. It makes it difficult to predict the license usage before releasing the adapter. This part should be more concrete, if there's always 1 unit per node or there are options - this should be clearly stated here. In general the guide should be more concrete.

when scheduling reports or sending a report manually it's currently not possible to use the CC or BCC functionality, neither in CMDB nor in CMS UI.

For privacy reasons and to be GDPR compliant (General Data Protection Regulation) it should be possible to send mails to BCC recipients only.

I would like to submit a request to create some documentation comparing the Policy Management features of the new CMS-UI Query Designer vs Configuration Manager (CM). As of 2019.05, UCMDB does not include CM in the installation and has been replaced by the CMS-UI Query Designer. I am curious if there are any major feature differences between the two components.

Docker Discovery for Windows

As far as I can see Docker for Windows would need to use the same Docker commands as the Unix instances, so extending the capability to cover Windows should not be too difficult.

Make Oracle LMS reports visible from the CMS UI

Oracle LMS reports is part of custom reports which are not visible in the CMS UI. Now that the Oracle LMS discovery is provided OOTB in the new CMS releases, it is largely distributed and the customers have started to ask for such functionality.

One should be able to set permissions to access such custom reports like for topology reports.

Ability to change UCMDB Browser icons based on attribute value

This works great in that client, but when you go to the UCMDB Browser, that icon has not been changed. Example: Icon for the Unix server is changed when the value of an attribute changes. The different icon appears in the Admin client, but in the UCMDB Browser, it continues to be the standard icon for the Unix server. How do we get the different icon to appear in the UCMDB Browser as well.

Create support for running the UCMDB Local Client on Linux OS

Add a field on the TQL Properties page

Add a field on the TQL properties page to hold the created by userid of the developer. If Micro Focus delivered, then user a default OOTB value. If it is a user-created TQL, then capture the logged in user's name in the field. The field would need to be captured on the underlying XML so it is included when packaged and deployed in other environments. The purpose of this would be to enable system administrators to train and coach developers in writing efficient and effective TQLs. At present, there is nothing in the TQL properties that indicates who wrote the TQL.

VMware discovery of Datastore Clusters

Currently, in a non-Multi-Tenant environment, a user can only have the permission "Access to SDK" or not. Once it has this permission, the user can execute any API method provided by any API (REST, Java, SOAP). Then, the user can read and write all data. CIs can be deleted updated, read etc. The user can also execute every TQL in the system.

Please note that in a Multi-Tenant environment this scenario is not valid, users need "Access to SDK" and "CI Data Update" to be able to create/update/delete CIs.

So the same functionality for a non-MT environment is needed.

Issue while add the IP range From Management Zone

Hi,

Our Customer is using UCMDB 11.0 and have raised an issue where UCMDB is allowing to add the IP ranges via Management Zone. We have opened a support case SD02513002 but Product Support has pointed us to the Idea Exchange.

Here are the steps to replicate the Problem - While creating a new Management Zone. Click New -> Specify Management zone name -> Define Partial Ranges on Domain -> Click * To add new range in management Zone (Give some IP which is not defined in probe range) & Save.

System is allowing to save the Range even if IPs are not added on probes.. Customer is requesting us to give us a warning pop up that this IP is not available in Probe so that they can take the corrective action.

As per Support, it is a product feature but customer has asked us a question Why Product is allowing us to add those IP ranges which are not available in Probes, if there is no way to track them. This is what our documentation states - " When running a zone-based discovery, the system dynamically dispatches discovery jobs to live IP addresses only in the IP ranges defined for management zones. During the dispatch, domain-based IP ranges will be converted to probe-based IP ranges, and invalid IP addresses will be skipped."

So, how the customer will come to know if by mistake they forgot to add some of the ranges in Probe & later adding it directly in Management Zone. Customer Expectation is to get a hot Fix for this issue. Can anyone from Product be able to help us in getting the Fix?

To enable correct display of such icons in Java UI, UCMDB Browser and CMS UI, one has to create (at least) five different icon files in three formats and in multiple locations.

This is not very user friendly.

The request is to enhance the UCMDB installation with a tool which allows to design a new icon and which then creates e.g. a package or a filesystem structure to load such icons into the correct locations with the correct names.

discover blade servers and enclosures and their relationship

Requirement: Discovery of Blade server, Blade Enclosure, Chassis, Rack and relationship between Blade and Blade Enclosure, Blade Enclosure and Rack etc.

This requirement is prevalent from quite sometime, where lot of customers are asking for inventory and topology information of Blade and Blade Enclosure etc. But so far we have not seen much progress on this requirement HP/HPE/MF uCMDB product.

On the contrary, BMC ADDM has already implemented Blade, Blade Enclosure discovery long ago. Refer attached links for details:

Since lots of these blades are used as ESXi servers in VMware Vcenter application, therefore Blades are already getting discovered with proper serial number in VMware Vcenter topology job. All we need is to discover the Blade Enclosure using SNMP or SSH.

For instance, If MF uCMDB is able populate the inventory from Dell Chassis Management Controller(CMC), then MF uCMDB can also be designed to relate already discovered Blades (used as ESXi server) with Blade Enclosures.

Dell CMC already captures the inventory of Blades and Blades Enclosure.

Regular expressions in TQL attribute conditions and view/reports

I would like to be able to use regular expressions in TQL and view/reports.

In TQL, currently, only Like (%) operators are allowed but this it too limited when trying to match complex patterns.

In reports/views, I would like to be able to parse a string attribute and extract some part of it into a column.

In some features of the CMS, like in enrichment rules, we can already use regular expression in order to extract part of a string or filter which CI will match or not. It would be nice to extend the use of regex to other features where filters and data parsing is available.

Permission for creating enrichment rules without being a full uCMDB administrator

As a power user of uCMDB and working with a lot of CIs, I would like to be able to create enrichment rules by myself. Currently (v2019.02), I would need to be a full uCMDB administrator to do that and, understandably, my organization does not want to grant me the right to alter the whole uCMDB configuration.

So, please, make an independent right for managing enrichment rules, separated from the full admin right. Thanks.

Please provide a 64-Bit UD Agent for macOS

macOS is stopping support of 64-bit applications. The current Universal Discovery agent results in a macOS Systems Pop-Up warning that it is a 32-bit application, and this is causing confusion for users since the agent is a background program they are not familiar with. Can you please provide a 64-bit version? Thanks!

I upgraded from UCMDB 10.33 CUP1 CUP25 to UCMDB 10.33 CUP4 CP2019.05, and we started to have error with snmp discovery.

Finally i found the fix on a forum, but the upgrade should have done that automaticly :

Relationship of UDA CIs just like other running software

When a running software is created in uCMDB using UD discovery, there are common relationships created along with it: IPAddressEndpoint, Process, Node, ...

However, when a UDA CI is created (UDA is a subtype of running software), there are no relationships with its process nor IPAdressEndpoint despite the fact that those two objects do exists and are already in relationship with the Node.

So, UDA is kind of not compliant with the usual topology of the running softwares. Please make sure that UDA, at least, follows the same topology as the other running softwares.

You can discover a little bit of information about things like ILO Cards, Printers and other devices by looking at the management web pages that they display.

Given suitable regex and attribute destinations UCMDB could harvest that data without requiring credentials.

This takes you from: this IP responds, but we don't know what is on the end of it to: this IP belongs to a Dell Integrated Remote Access Controller 7. Not a vast information, but a lot better than what you started with.

Probe filter mechanism design gap - related CIs must not be filtered if relevant for reconciliation

the current probe filter mechanism does not send CIs to UCMDB if there was no change on the CI compared to last discovery run. whereas this can be good for performance, it is very problematic if those filtered CIs are needed to identify other CIs.

here 2 examples:

Location CIs: a location is identified by its name and also related location CIs, e.g. a room location requires the parent floor location CI to be uniquely identified. if there was a change on the room CI but not on the floor CI, only the room CI will be send to UCMDB which is not enough to reconcile it
SAP System CIs: a sap system CI is identified by its related sap application server CIs. if only the sap system was changed and send to UCMDB, it is not enough to reconcile without the related sap app servers

consequently, before the probe filters a CI, it needs to be checked if this CI is required to identify any other CI from the bulk

Discovery pattern for BigIQ

When multiple users concurrently modify probe configuration (e.g to add IP ranges for discovery), they overwrite each other's changes. Requesting the ability for users to make concurrent updates which append without conflict.

Available workarounds such as periodically importing a merged excel file pose security and usability challenges.

We are using UCMDB 2019.05 we connected our UCMDB to MS SQL 2014 Enterprise edition. I am asking that customer has some data and information on vCenter(assigned tags, custom attributes, and notes.) I discovered vmware esx servers and vcenter-esx-computer topology thanks to virtualization by VIM jobs. Customer wants to see assigned tags(servers' responsible departments) in vCenter also in UCMDB. How can I do that ? There is an attribute name which is "Tags" in UCMDB. There should be solution copy vcenter values into UCMDB tags attribute or another attribute. If we managed to paste data I will create an attribute which is "Responsible department" and I will do enrichment rule between "Responsible department" and "Tags" or another attribute has been copied by vCenter. I uploaded clear png files as attachments.

Note : Waiting for creating an Enhancement Request(ER).

Adding support of .NET Framework versions for PowerShellConnector.exe

When a "PowerShell" Job is executed, Probe creates a new Process and starts the "powershellconnector.exe". The "exe" was compiled with .NET Framework 3.5 and it depend on it to run. When the Framework is disabled, the "exe" can't be loaded and Process exit with error code. Then Probe can't connect to it. So the job failed in Probe.

Could we include support for newer version of .NET Framework for the "powershellconnector.exe" ?
