Welcome 2023 with a New LoadRunner Professional Release!
Hang on to your hats—the 2023 LoadRunner Professional release has landed.
We start the new year with a fantastic major release, where we continue to focus on the areas that matter most to our customers.
Lets walk through a few release highlights.
New license model:
We have introduced our successor to the much loved Virtual User Days (VUDs) with the introduction of Virtual User Flex Days (VUFDs).
We are excited and our customers are too. This capability allows our customers to take out a flexible subscription model to support burst testing and offer extra flexibility on shorter term.
Embrace the chaos:
We are also very pleased to announce that we are now the first performance engineering tool to support chaos & resiliency attacks with both a SaaS vendor (Gremlin) and an off-cloud option via Steadybit. The pace of software development keeps increasing whilst the environments become more complex. We recognise that as complexity increases, so does the potential for system outages, or a potential software failure somewhere in the system. Both of which would be detrimental to a business and their reputation. With that we have now added the ability to inject disruption events into your testing, adding more value to your performance scripts.

User experience:
We have continued our major investment in providing the best user experience by modernising our UI and providing the stability that our users demand. We’ve modernized the look and feel of the Controller Output window in Controller and Analysis. We’ve also updated Network Virtualization which allows our customers to test and measure real-life conditions from varying networks and geographical conditions around the globe – critical in today’s fast moving technological landscapes.
Administration:
In the enterprise we recognise that being an administrator is a privileged role and with this comes great responsibility. So, we have just made your life much easier. How have we done this? We’ve added the option to create projects from existing projects, the ability to define roles and permissions, and we’ve also removed some of the system restrictions by passing UAC and DEP whilst still maintaining your security. Be sure to check out the new help guide on this.
Shift-left and shift everywhere:
In this release we continue our focus on ensuring that LoadRunner Professional is a tool for all testing personas and that performance engineering is a team sport.
In LoadRunner Developer we have released many customer driven enhancements and new capabilities. Be sure to check out the what’s new.
We have continued our investment in TruClient where we have updated our browser engines to ensure we offer updated browser support so our customers can keep up with the fast moving pace of browsers whilst also prioritizing security.
Lastly, we have continued our investment in observability by ensuring customers are able to track and measure end-to-end performance. We’ve invested in Prometheus where we now offer HTTPs support and provide the ability to retrieve and view all possible metrics for a custom measurement.
Investing in the core:
LoadRunner solutions have the broadest protocol support in the industry, and this is further enhanced in this release. In this version, we have expanded .NET+, a new protocol that supports .NET 6, and enhanced our Citrix support with the introduction of two new APIs. The DevWeb protocol has also been enhanced.
There are numerous miscellaneous protocol enhancements, updated technology support, and improved usability that will boost your confidence in LoadRunner Professional.
