Using UFT One 15.x? Here’s why you need to upgrade today!

by   in DevOps Cloud (ADM)

New versions of OpenTextTm UFT One are designed to support the latest technologies and platforms. By embracing the latest version, you can optimize your testing efforts, make sure your test automation remains compatible with new technologies across diverse environments and leverage the most up-to-date features and capabilities.

Let’s break it down to understand why upgrading to the latest is an absolute must!

Access to Support

Current maintenance for UFT One version 15.x ends on December 31st, 2023. OpenText will continue to provide sustaining maintenance, which includes access to any software updates that are already available and self-help resources. However, you’ll no longer enjoy benefits such as technical support, defect fixes, patches, hotfixes, enhancements and security updates.

Upgrading to the latest available version of UFT One guarantees you access to the full range of OpenText support options.

AI Object Detection-based tests for a powerful test automation

UFT One first introduced AI in version 14.x and has improved with each version since, resulting in a robust AI engine with strong capabilities that continuously updates and improves.

Creating UFT One AI-based tests with AI Object Detection can improve the efficiency and sustainability of automated tests, leading to more reliable software testing and expanded coverage.

  • Efficiency - AI Object Detection allows UFT One to quickly identify UI elements without relying on underlying technology, speeding up the test development process.
  • Sustainability - Since AI Object Detection is more resilient to UI changes, tests are less likely to break when the application’s UI is modified. This reduces the need for teams to manage and update their test suites as the application evolves.

By upgrading to the latest UFT One release and creating AI Object Detection-based tests,  you can also enjoy reusing test scripts across multiple platforms, including web, desktop and mobile applications.

Enhanced Features and Functionality

Additional capabilities in the latest release include improved object recognition, expanded platform support, newly available integrations and more. These enhancements can significantly streamline your testing processes, improve test coverage and increase overall efficiency.

The latest release further opens cloud options and provides users the ability to:

  • Run tests on cloud browsers provided by Digital Lab. This removes the need to install, maintain and update the test environment browsers or browser extensions.
  • Connect to AI Object Detection Cloud Service: UFT One now offers three ways of working with the AI Object Detection—
    • Locally, as part of UFT One installation
    • Remotely, installed in a remote server with a strong GPU card, yet still off cloud
    • On the cloud, connecting to the AI Object Detection Cloud Service. This reduces the use of local resources, speeds up test execution and ensures you are always using the latest AI Object Detection model.
  • Run tests in the cloud. Instead of running tests locally, they can now be uploaded to ValueEdge Functional Test and run in cloud environments via the Execution module. This promotes time efficiency and reduces local resources use and efforts.

Since UFT One version 15.x, several notable new features have been introduced around AI, DevOps tool chains, ParallelRunner, technology improvements, integrations and more.

Technology Updates

As technologies evolve, compatibility becomes a crucial consideration. Older versions of UFT One may not be compatible with newer technologies, platforms or frameworks. This can result in limitations when testing modern applications, mobile devices, web browsers, or operating systems.

By upgrading to the latest UFT One, you ensure that your test automation remains compatible with the latest technologies, enabling you to keep testing your applications across various environments.

More integrations

As UFT One moves forward, more integration opportunities become available, whether with other OpenText products, such as ALM/QC, ValueEdge, UFT Digital Lab or other CI/CD tools.

Functional Testing is an integral part of the DevOps lifecycle. Upgrading UFT One and making sure it is integrated with the entire ecosystem will allow you to leverage new capabilities, take advantage of the latest functionality and enable your team to work better together as a whole.
