Edit/action of request not possible - Another user is currently performing an operation on request

Hello,

we have a request that seems to be permanently locked.

When trying to edit the detailed description or action the request to next status it is not possible, also not with admin privileges.

Edit Detailed Description: PCC0004672E SQL error: -7 SQL-7(29409) ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "obj_exports_k1"
DETAIL: Key (obj_uid)=(****) already exists.
PCC0004573E Another user is currently performing an operation on request ...

Action Request - COR0005671E Request ... action descriptions are being edited by ...

The user has closed dimensions client, rebooted the PC and also the server was rebooted. Nothing changes. The error exists since several days.

How can the look be found and removed?

Yes, this is also not possible.

    UC ** /CANCEL_EDIT
PCC0004576E Request *** was being edited by *** you cannot cancel edit

In the meantime we copied the content of the request in a new request. This new request has now the same problem. The only difference is, that the new request is supposedly blocked by the other user who created this request.

After taking a look in the detailed description there are some special characters in the text (output copied from another tool). A third request where all the special characters were removed did work in the end.

So maybe the special characters are confusing dimensions.

As deleting the requests is not possible we still would like to get the requests unblocked.

For UC /cancel_edit error that it is being edited by another user, could you have that user run the command?

    Hello Andreas,

Can you please provide those special characters, so we can recreate the problem to fix for future?

    Thanks,

Thanks! This was successful, the user could cancel the request, action one step back and edit afterwards again.

    Hello Alex,

these are the special characters that were visible in the detailed description:

    –

    â€Ĺľ

    –

    “

But maybe there are also some characters that are now invisible. We had this in the past, that the cursor did not move at some positions in the text when hitting the left/right key inside a word.

I try to find out and will add them later.

One is: Âť (this is not visible in notepad, but in the browser)

    Thanks a lot, Andreas.

Was that the Web Client or the Desktop?

It was the desktop client. The Windows Notepad was used to edit the detailed description by default.

Originally the problematic characters were and –

    „    changes to   â€Ĺľ

    “    changes to   â€œ    or     â€Âť

       changes to   â€“

    after save/closing the editor.

The user did not have applied the work around in the Preferences/Editor: "notepad.exe" /a at the time of request creation.

Another user just copied the text from the first request, but including the new special characters.

Is there a way to set Preferences/Editor: "notepad.exe" /a for all users globally as standard setting? Everytime a new user starts in the projects we have to take care to setup the work around.

These settings are stored in the Windows Registry, so it can be potentially rolled out through Domain to all Windows machines by admins.

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Serena\Dimensions\14.6.0\PC Client\ChangeDocumentEditors - value DescriptionEditor

In 14.7 Desktop Client by default user will edit the Detailed Request Description within a Desktop Client UI (not in an external tool, like Notepad). So, upgrading Dimensions CM version might be a better way to go.

    Kind Regards,
