Looking for better error logging of Jmeter Scripts

Looking for having error codes logged with the error message in JMeter scripts.

We have multiple scenarios of jmeter scripts logging only the error message, it would be nice to have there the status code and no need to guess what it was or try to correlate it with the status code.

Adding a custom assertion with messages is CPU-consuming.
