Suggestion for Virtual Table Server Default Page Enhancement

Status: Waiting for Votes

I have been using the Virtual Table Server and appreciate its capabilities. As I explore the platform, I wanted to share an idea that I believe could enhance the user experience and provide valuable insights to users.

Dashboard on Default Page:

Currently, the default page for the Virtual Table Server is http://<server>:4000, and it serves as a gateway to various servers with different ports. I propose the addition of a simple dashboard on this default page that displays essential information about the running servers. This dashboard could include:

  1. Number of Running Servers: A quick overview of the total number of servers currently running.

  2. Server Details:

    • Server Name: Display the name of each running server.
    • Port Number: Show the port associated with each server.
  3. Table Information:

    • Number of Rows: Provide the count of rows for each table associated with the server.
    • Last Updated Time: Display the timestamp of the last update for each table.

This dashboard would offer users a clear and concise understanding of the Virtual Table Server environment, making it easier to manage and monitor multiple servers efficiently.

Clickable Server Names

In the proposed dashboard, make the server names clickable links. When a user clicks on a specific server name, they should be redirected to the corresponding server with its designated port. This simple yet powerful feature will streamline navigation and facilitate quick access to individual servers.

Benefits:

  1. Intuitive Navigation: Clicking on a server name directly takes users to the relevant server, eliminating the need for manual entry of port numbers.

  2. Efficient Management: Users can easily navigate between different servers for monitoring and administration purposes.

This enhancement aligns with the goal of providing a user-friendly and efficient experience within the Virtual Table Server environment. It's a small addition that can significantly improve the workflow for users managing multiple servers.
