Is there a way to associate PVCS items with Jira items?

I actually opened a case for this with Support, but I thought the question might be better suited for the Community.  Is there a way of emulating Source Bridge, so that in addition to associating with SBM, I could associate with Jira?  The primary goal is to automatically assign a version label from a Jira item, but a bonus would be storing the PVCS module name(s) and revisions in the Jira item.

    I’ll think about using event triggers to provide the module name and revision to Jira, and maybe an event trigger could read a part of the cat/file string comprised of the Jira key, and assign the version label.
