Yes, SilkCentral Test Manager 8.0 must be uninstalled before attempting to install Test Manager 8.1. Once the install is completed you can simply connect to your existing SCTM 8.0 database. To upgrade please follow the steps below:

• Make backup copy of your 8.0 configuration files located in the SCTM conf dir.
• Copy this folder to a safe location of your choice.
• Remove the current installation of Test Manager (see "Test ManagerMaintenance" in the Installation guide).
• Install SilkCentral Test Manager 8.1 (see "Installing Test Manager" in the Installation Guide).
• The database settings will automatically be updated, however some advanced configuration settings must be edited manually in the new configuration files.
• Compare your backed up configuration files with the new files and copy the changes to the new files.
