QUESTION

Why will my SilkTest test definition not execute on one or more of my execution servers?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

There are a number of possible reasons for a SilkTest test definition failing to execute. It is helpful to analyse the SilkCentral Test Manager log files which can be accessed within the SilkCentral Test Manager GUI from Administration > Reports.

One message to check for when faced with the above problem can sometimes be found within the "ExecServer.log" file:

Neither System environment variable "SEGUE_HOME" nor "SILKTEST_HOME" is available. SilkTest execution will not be possible.

This message will indicate that either SilkTest is not installed on the execution server, or the system environment variables mentioned do not match the SilkTest installation path.

Check the value of both environment variables from the Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables. The values must match the path to the SilkTest installation on the execution server.
