Problem:

Why can"t I download a PDF version of my BIRT report when using SilkCentrral Test Manager?

Resolution:

In order to download a PDF version of a selected BIRT report you need to click on the PDF icon (as shown below) in SilkCentral Test Manager.

If you then get the following error message displayed:

A possible cause for this is that there is no header in the BIRT report template. The BIRT PDF engine has an issue with reports that do not contain a header and as such the report cannot be downloaded in PDF format.

Shown below is a template that does not work (note the lack of a header line):

Adding in a header to this template by selecting the table and then right-clicking on the row that you wish to place the header before. Select the Insert menu and Header from the submenu:

The new template now has a blank header line at the top of the Report tempate:

This report can then be downloaded successfully in PDF format.

The downloaded report can then be opened using Abobe Reader.
