Problem:

How can I find out the password of the SilkCentral Issue Manager Adminstrative Console?

Resolution:

ANSWER
----------------------------------

  1. Firstly, you will need to ensure that SilkRadar is creating a DEBUG log file. For more information on how to do this please see the following resolution: How can I create a Silkradar Adminconsole debug log file?
  2. Open the file and at the top you will see a line starting with the string "DSN".
  3. In the DSN line, you will find the UID of the SilkRadar database and also the encrypted PWD [ password ] of the database.
  4. Enter the UID as the user name and the PWD as the password in the SQL Server Admin. This will re-establish the connection to the SilkRadar database. NOTE: You must enter the password exactly as it appears in the DSN line, with capitalization taken into consideration.

The most common application of this, is when the SilkRadar Database has been moved to another system as the passwords will not have been moved with the Database.
