The error message "I/O error while starting application OpenAgent.exe" normally occurs on a Windows Vista machine or later if you have the Windows User Account Control (UAC) enabled on the Operating System. As this prevents the SilkTest Open Agent Recorder from hooking the application under test.

To disable UAC:

1) Go to Conrol Panel -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control Settings.
2) Move the slider to the 'Never notify' position, and then click OK
3) Reboot the OS
