Copy / Duplicate Tasks

Hey there,

im a normal user in our StarTeam environment, were on 17.2.

In our current project, were using tasks to keep track of project progress. Therefore we have defined a specific set of tasks which is needed for each release (about 25 tasks).

Recreating them manually for each release is not very efficient. Is there a simple way to copy or export/import in StarTeam?

What ive checked so far:

I can export tasks, but couldnt find a way to import them
Copy a tasks via right click is not possible
stcmd doesnt seem to have an option to create tasks according to the documentation, or am i wrong?
The long road: Using the SDK to write a java or csharp script to do this

Am i missing something, any other ideas?

hi Philipp,

StarTeam client supports copying one task at a time. There is presently no UI nor stcmd options available to copy tasks in bulk. As of 17.2 release, your only option is to use StarTeam Java SDK Apis to write a simple program to copy tasks over release views.

Please enter an enhancement request for adding a new stcmd option to copy tasks over.

Hi Hareesh,

thanks for your information. So for copying tasks with the UI...should this be possible via Rightclick menu -> Copy? Currently thats greyed out in my client.

Hi Philipp,

"Copy" option is enabled only for root tasks. Are you trying to copy sub-tasks /child tasks?

Hi Hareesh,

yes, i am trying to copy sub-tasks, cause we are using a standartized set of tasks (root + sub tasks) for each release.
