Problem:

Is it possible to break a non-exclusively locked item?

Resolution:

Currently only the user that holds a What is the difference between an Exclusive lock and a non-exclusive lock? can break the lock, however there is a Request for Enhancement logged so that the StarTeam Administrator can break non-exclusive locks.

If the account of the user that holds the non-exclusive lock has been suspended, you will need to follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Open Server Administration tool
  2. Select the User Manager
  3. Right click on the Suspended user
  4. Click Reactivate Account
  5. Select Properties
  6. Select the Logon Tab
  7. If required change validation from "validate through directory service" to "validate through StarTeam Server"
  8. Set the user as having a blank password
  9. Log back into the project as the newly reactivated user and unlock any item that has a non-exclusive lock set by this user.
