Problem:

When uninstalling 2006 CPC, the process hangs and does not complete.

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2006, 2006 R2
  • Product Component: Client
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP

Description:
When uninstalling the 2006 Cross Platform Client, the uninstaller hangs at the very end of the process while removing registry keys. It seems to have uninstalled the CPC but will cause issues when attempting to install the 2006 R2 client. Also, the 2006 CPC still appears in the Windows Add/Remove Programs.

Answer/Solution:

This appears to have been an issue with early builds of the Cross Platform Client for 2006. It was resolved in StarTeam 2006 R2 Cross Platform Client installs.

To work around this issue, re-run the uninstaller and it will clean up everything, but displays message that it was unable to remove registry keys. Those messages can be ignored. Attempt installation of 2006 R2 CPC. If the install of 2006 R2 CPC does not work, then try to re-install the 2006 CPC that was uninstalled. After it is installed, attempt the uninstall again. If it still fails, then log a support case with Technical Support.
