How often should I back backup the StarTeam database and repository?

Answer:

You should back up StarTeam"s repository at least weekly. The best plan to use would be to set up a Full Backup for the repository to run on a weekly basis, and then run Incremental backups on a nightly basis.

This will make restoration in case of a catastrophic system crash much easier and less painful. The full backup will be restored, and then the incrementals will be restored to catch the system up to current minus the number of hours since the incremental ran. This would minimize the data loss as much as possible.

It is recommended to back up the database at least weekly. Also any time that a system change occurs, the database needs to be backed up. If the database can possibly be backed up more often, then that would be even better. Basically, database backups need to occur whenever and however often the DBA deems necessary.
