Blank error message when starting StarTeam CPC

When launching the StarTeam CPC the following error message appears:

This is a known issue and is caused by either:

  • The CPC is installed on a machine which does not have a supported language installed on the system.

  • The StarTeam Client options xml file has been corrupted

Unsupported Language 

  1. Open CONTROL PANEL
  2. Select REGIONAL & LANGUAGE SETTINGS
  3. Select LANGUAGES Tab
  4. Click DETAILS
  5. Confirm that a supported language such as English, French, German or Japanese has been installed in addition to the standard locale language. This will be listed under ‘Installed services’.

Corrupt XML file

  1. Navigate to the following directory, modify "username" to match your Windows login

    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Borland\StarTeam\starteam-client-options.xml

  2. Open the xml file using IE or another Internet browser
  3. If the file is not formatted it will not display correctly in the browser
  4. Delete the file. It will be regenerated again when restarting the StarTeam CPC
