  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

Question:

Why do I get the following when attempting to start my root cache agent "PubSub library initialization failed with error: server not connected"?

Answer:

This indicates that the cache agent service has parsed the Root CAs configuration file in order to obtain information on Hives etc. In that file you must also specify the address of the message broker. This error indicates that the message broker service is either not started or something is preventing the cache agent from connecting to it. In order to troubleshoot this restart the MB service then restart the root cache agent. If the error persists then check that no firewall issues prevent the message broker connecting to the cache agent. Try running a telnet command on the cache agent machine to check if the port the message broker is listening on is listening for incoming connections. Its also worth checking your configuration files to ensure you are specify the correct hostname and port that the message broker is using.
