Problem:

Borland Search Server runs out of memory (heap space). How do I increase it?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2008
  • Product Component: Borland Search Server
  • Platform/OS Version: All Supported OS

Description:

When running Borland Search Server, the tool throws a memory error (heap space exception) when running it on large projects.

Answer/Solution:

Memory use can be high for searches with very large indexes. If you get an "Out of Memory" exception, you might need to increase the Java VM heap size for Tomcat. You can set the Java VM heap size by changing the value of the JAVA_OPS variable in the catalina.bat or catalina.sh file. Example: -Xmx512m, where 512 would be replaced with the appropriate value for your situation.

Any problems should be forwarded to Borland Support.
