CM10.1 - Drag and Drop from Outlook (Duplicate records)

Hi

We have a number of users who have been dragging and dropping an email into different containers, creating duplicate records. This worked ok in 9.4 but now when they do this in 10.1, when they drag and drop the email in to CM a 2nd time, it pops up the orignal record of the dropped in email and doesn't save a duplicate record. Is there a setting somewhere that allows this duplication from drag and drop?

I have advised them on how to copy the record and place into a different container, or to use the check in buttons.

Thanks

    Hi  ,

On the System Options - Email Record page, are the options 'Check for duplicate email messages' and 'Prevent duplicated email messages' enabled?

If enabled, it would explain what you are reporting but you should also see the same message when using Check In with the Outlook Integration.

Below are the explanation for the two System Options I mentioned above:

    • Check for duplicate email messages - Content Manager can detect when users of the Content Manager Outlook add-in attempt to check in email messages to Content Manager that have been checked in before.
Select to enable Content Manager email duplicate checking and to enable the Prevent duplicated email messages option. Duplicate checking is done using the Message ID, size and title.

    • Prevent duplicated email messages - select for Content Manager to prevent users from creating new records for email that it has identified as duplicate. Content Manager instead links the duplicate email to the record that was created when the email was checked in the first time and displays a confirmation message. If this option is not selected, Content Manager will display information about the existing duplicate email so that you can decide whether or not to check in the duplicate email message.

    Hi Sheila

Neither of those options are ticked in our system settings.

I turned each option on for testing on our test dataset, one at a time but the same behaviour occurs. Only difference is that the check in as button does not respond as the option to prevent duplicated email messages is turned on.

    Thanks

    Hi Janine,

Which 10.1 patch/build are you using?

I came here to ask this same question!  We need to be able to drop duplicate emails in folders but the behavior is exactly as you described Janine.  I checked system options and we have the same set up as you.  Nothing changed on our end but this functionality stopped.  Is there a solution?

    Hi Ann,

As there has been no movement here regarding this issue please open a case with OpenText support.

    Hi Ann

I logged a case for this and it is meant to be fixed in patch 5. Probably best logging a case for yourselves too anyway.

    Thanks

We had the same issue in 10.1 and now patched to 23.4 the same issue exists.  Drag an email into a container on the 23.4 CM client which already has the email in it - opens a new CM tab with the original email listed. Nothing shown on the audit trail.  We have "check for duplicate e-mail messages" checked On and "Prevent duplicated email messages" is checked Off.  We have a workaround but it appears this is still an issue.
