Record Type Behavior for Duplicate Titles - Prevent

Hi CM Brainiacs,

Not sure if problem is linked to our recent upgrade to CM 10.1, Build 761 (Patch 3, Hotfix 2) but we've found that the prevent duplicate rule for creating new containers is not working. These containers will start with a classiifcation from the BCS and the Free Text Title will have a case number (e.g. 123456).

I've also tested creating a container with classification and Title of "Test" but CM is still allows me to create another container with exact same naming. Also, from what I've seen, it doesn't matter what user type it is, our default is Knowledge Worker for all users and the prevent duplicate rule doesn't work at that user level.

Thanks,

Trevor Stevenson, QBCC.

You are correct.  We were informed that this is corrected with patch in 10.1 patch 3.  I would be curious if this is resolved in 24.x.. The customer really wants this function to work.

In our case we had a customer that used this function with multiple classifications.  The expected and past behavior that this prevent duplicate rule would be applied to records within a classification. But in 10.1 Patch 1 (hotfix 6), it just prevents duplicates in the entire dataset, which is definitely not wanted.

If Record Type has Prevent Duplicate Titles on, any records with the same title within the dataset will prevent a new record from being created. If Display Warning for Duplicate Titles is on, a warning will be displayed if any records with the same title within the dataset exist. Known bug Fixed in Patch 3 Record Types with Prevent Duplicate Titles on have been switched to Display Warning
