Reference File not working

Went some users try to access previously created reference files (tr5), they receive an error message: "there were errors detected:  XXXX.trf is invalid or an incompatible format."  We are all using version 10.0.0.501. The reference files will usually work for some and not others and we can't figure out why.

    Hi Lane,

For one that isn't working, can you open up the TR5 file using Notepad?

Once done, if you can share the contents (and redact any sensitive names) we can let you know what's not correct inside the TR5 file and why it isn't opening.

Thank you, here is a screen shot of a working and non-working TR5 in Notepad++

We have also encountered this issue in mixed Content Manager environment. The first reference file is using old .ini style and the second file is using xml format. The second file was probably generated in a later version of Content Manager.

Looks like some of your users may have Content Manager client software which is a higher version compared to your work group server version. Are you in the process of upgrading Content Manager? If yes, you may be better off to use copy Link / Desktop link instead of TR5 files.
