Import any csv to load large data to lookup set in CM 24.3

I am trying to create a lookup set using  CM desktop , version 24.3 , and the lookup set has around 700+ entries. It would be better if we can import the values from a csv or any other method. Any help would be appreciated.
thank You.

    Hi

Look at using the DataPort utility to import the lookup set, using the online help.

This by default only uses a Tab delimited format unless a custom importer is written.

The easiest way to check how to format the import file is to export a lookup set and select all the relevant fields
From the exported metadata file, you can then review the format and then provide alternate data, e.g. via a csv saved in Tab delimited format ( and also a UTF encoding)
Then run a DataPort import project supplying the new metadata file and in the configuration map the fields(columns) in the metadata sheet to the lookup set fields.

Thanks for the help. I believe that Dataport utility comes as a separate package and we have to add it to utility package or something. But I will definitely look into it. Thanks for the headstart.

It is not a separate package, but it is a separate exe typically launched form the client. but can also be launched separately , look under the list of CM applications listed under WIndows  Start.

. In the client , select the Administrator tab, and then Other > Import/Export. ( on the far right)
This will only be available for users with the relevant permissions , eg Administrator and I believe Records Manager.

    This then launches the DataPort

    From the Start list

Note that you can only open DataPort via the Administration Tab through the full CM Client, it is not available on the CM Desktop Client.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to finally get to the Data export page. I am a little confused as what is the project name actually. Its not the dataset name i believe. Do we have to create a project name or something? I tried executing the export with all other search options filled.

Edit: I was going through the log file and apparently i am facing error "saved search has not been set on the cm data port." currently looking into it.

Under Export Properties, you will be able to set the Export Data Source.

    This can either be set to use either;

    - An Existing Saved Search within Content Manager

    - Items from one of the Content Manager Trays

To identify and target the items for extraction.

DataPort also comes with its own Help File which walks you through basic Import / Export setup if you get stuck

    Good Luck!
