How to restore a particular media from the IDB (Catalog) backup

Good Day!

How to recover only specific media catalog information form the IDB backup to DP.

I could not trace some of the media for the Object copy operation. I have these media detail in a text doc (Collected earlier) and it retention is valid until 2025.

I tried to trace these media in DP and StoreOnce but could not find it. Now I do not know what are the objects backed-up in these media as per the media list collected earlier.

If restore of a particular media form IDB backup is possible, any thing I need to consider before doing the restore? I suspect if some of copy jobs already copied the data to new destination and recycled the source data after successful copy job, then potentially the object will be available in another device with different media and session ID. If I restore the old media catalog information to DP will the same object, version and session ID conflict if backup already exists for them?

I there any other way I can check if I have media ID and that media objects are available in any completed copy sessions? Appreciate you help!

    Hello!

No we can't restore specific DCBF from a backup, only bulk DCBF restore is possible.

For your task media.log could be useful.

It tracks media usage in every session,

so you can always determine which media were used for a particular copy job if you know the session id..

I have already checked in the data protector media.log  with Data Protector media ID but couldn't find it.  I have checked in Session  ID and logs but could not find the media which I looking.

I have the media list which has Media ID, Media ID of StoreOnce, Protection Data, and Modified Date & Data Size.

Any idea which media ID I need to check in the media logs? Is that Data Protector Media ID or StoreOcne media ID which is separated by underscore?
