Limited user rights

Hello All,

Please advise on the below.

If one creates DP user group with all the user rights  like DP admin group has except right "User configuration"

What are the operations the members of such group will be unable to perform (except the obvious ones like to create a new user, change user rights etc).

We have noticed that we become unable to change protection for the session in IDB.

Is there something like that what is not that directly linked with the name of that user right? Not directly related to the user configuration changes?

Thank you!

Gulnaz

    Hi Gulnaz,

this is what I have found on DP help file:

    Option: User configuration

This user rightUser rights or access rights are the permissions needed to perform specific Data Protector tasks. Configuring a backup, starting a backup session, or starting a restore session are typical user rights. Users have the access rights of the user group to which they belong. allows the user to add, delete, and modify users and user groups. Note that this is a powerful right.

My suggestion is to open a support case to investigate why the user becomes unable to change protection for the session in IDB.

    Regards,

I tried to reproduce this on DP 23.4 and I can change protection. This was using a standard local account in a user group with all rights but "User configuration". What I'm missing after this is the "Users" context in the GUI.
