  • Hi Hlen,

The firs thing to check here is server1 can see the MSL2024. For windows go to Device Manager and check tape drives can be seen.

After this you may want to verify if the device path for the MSL & drives have not changed, to check this

    1. DP GUI go to Devices & Media

    2. Select the MSL20204 Library > Properties > Control > Select server1 in Client > look for the device path for controller and add the path > Apply.

    3. Do same for all drive as step 2.

    4. Perform scan and see if it works

    Syed

  • Dear Syed,

Thanks you very much for your answer!

In Window Server 2008 -  Device Manager we cannot found the Tape Device, but we can access it via ip - web portal. The tape device comunicate with the server via networking.

Sorry, could you please help me some detail direction with it, how can i find the the device path or SCSI address ?

    Hi,

As said earlier the first thing to check is the Tape drive connectivity with the hosts, there are 2 ways a tape drive can be connected with the hosts either SCSI or FC. Irrespective of the connecion type tape drives must be visible to hosts at Device manager level to perform the backup.

You can access the MSL via IP Web portal means management network is configured for MSL which is only to manage the MSL not to perform backup.

Please check with your hardware team to assist you in verifying the connection.

once it's done as shared in screenshot in your post by expanding the SCSI address you see the robotic path device address as tick in green else it will mark as cross in red which means invalid device path. Select Tick green device path > Add > Apply.

    Repeat same for  drives

    Syed
