  • Hello PiyushU,

    I had the same error many times over. Not only on the HPDP 9.06 version.

    I found more than one solution / problem which could be the case:

    1.) Try this first ...

    logon to your system as <sid>adm

    do a : sqlplus / as sysdba

    next : alter darabase backup controlfile to '%s';

    create a new logfile:  alter system switch logfile;

    now you should see a new logile in your xyz-directory.

    do a archive backup again and see if the error is gone.

    2.)

    One time it was a permissions problem with the "sapbackup" and /sapmnt/<SID>/exe directory.

    I tested a chmod 777 and 755 on these directories ... error was gone.

    I found out that for each archive backup a file was created in the sapbackup directory and as the permissions

    were ... this caused the problem. (The file with the name ctrl<SID>.dbf was created but could not be deleted after

    the backup, which was caused by insufficient permissions)

    3.)

    permissions of my brtools were wrong.

    If you need i can send you a screenshot how they should be, or check with a server which is operational.
