DP9: SAP programs exist but can't seem to be located

One of our SAP systems just got updated and of course broke Data Protector.

It looks OK from the command line:

(root@s928-dbsapwd1)# ./util_sap.exe -CHKCONF JBD
*RETVAL*0
(root@s928-dbsapwd1)# ./util_sap.exe -CONFIG JBD /oracle/JBD/121/ system/********@JBD /usr/sap/JBD/SYS/exe/run/ /oracle/JBD/
*RETVAL*0
(root@s928-dbsapwd1)# ./util_sap.exe -CHKCONF JBD
*RETVAL*0

And even tried uninstall, and update from the GUI. All seems OK.

But when I go to run a backup I get:

[Critical] From: OB2BAR_OMNISAP@s928-dbsapwd1.ssmhc.com "OMNISAP" Time: 04/10/17 08:57:59
Cannot get information on file '/usr/sap/JBD/SYS/exe/run/brarchive' Error: 13.

Also, when I try to choose configure from the GUI I get:

They exist!

What am I overlooking?

CM and Client are running HP-UX11.31.  SAP and Oracle 12c on the client

  • Error 13 is system error number for "Permission denied".

    All your successful attempts are executed as root user.

    Backup should run under Oracle OS user, and brtools should be accessible by that user account. For details, see Data Protector Integration Guide, chapter 12, "Configuring the integration" -> "Configuring user account".

  • The user oracle and orajbd were working before and have always been configured for this client.

    After running oraroot.sh and saproot.sh this is what I have:

    (root@s928-dbsapwd1)# ls -lrt br*
    -rwsrwsr--   1 oracle     oinstall   16143656 Feb  6 06:53 brrestore
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 jbdadm     sapsys     17526976 Feb  6 06:53 brtools

    It was rights on the directories:

    s928-dbsapwd1:jbdadm 30> ls -lrt
    drwxr-xr-x 2 jbdadm sapsys 96 Feb 10 13:22 opt
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 jbdadm sapsys 19 Feb 10 13:22 nuc -> /sapmnt/JBD/exe/nuc
    lrwxr-x--- 1 jbdadm sapsys 25 Apr 8 00:09 dbg -> /sapmnt/JBD/exe/uc/hpia64

    lrwxr-x--- 1 jbdadm sapsys 19 Apr 8 00:11 jvm -> /sapmnt/JBD/exe/jvm

    happy now:
